I just got off the phone with someone whos given me some really distressing news!

For anyone who didnt sign up within the last year chances are u will not get your letter so as a example if you signed up in 2001 but your subscription wasnt fullfilled ess according to this operator it wasnt there problem and all she could do was take down my info yet again and that id get a call in the next few days

all Im going to say is WTF!!!!

That is totally untrue as I signed up pre 2000 and got my code quite some time ago.

Also, you couldnt sign up within the last year. They have not been taking new memberships since 2001.

I think you spoke to someone who has no clue there. Not surprising, there seems to be alot of those that work there. Fanfire that is, not Prop.

me too. Although, If you have not received your letter yet, I would be both worried and pissed...

I've still had nothing, I've been a subscriber since '87. Have given up and just bitten the bullet with the $40 fee. Its amazing how many times over the years I've had to do this with the old Prop. Nearly every time I moved house I had to re-subscribe as they were just useless.

I really hope the new club is a bit more organised....

I'm in the same situation as you and have subscribed since 1988. I am relucatant to bite the bullet as Prop subscribers are supposed to be put right to the front of the ticket queue.. what a a pain in the arse!!

I tried to join in 2000 before they planned to release the hasta la vista CD.. They took my money and I heard nothing more..

I still haven't gotten anything and no response from my email to them. I signed up in 2001 and they did not have tickets for the shows I signed up for so I haven't gotten shit from Prop.

I've tried emailing the Fanfire team, the Propaganda team and even the old Propaganda team. Not a single response from any of them.

Thanks a bunch.

I've just given up hope of getting the letter and as a result I can see me having to resort to eBay for tickets when they get released.

Well, I just got the same response in my inbox (took them 8 days to respond to my initial email). I joined in 05/01, got 2 issues, and never moved. I never got a letter in the mail.

My feeling is that if you didn't get a letter yet, it ain't coming. Hard to believe they could screw this up so bad!

How could this mean your subscription lapsed? Propaganda lapsed!

Is it just the 2001 people who didn't get a letter? (That would be me, too.) And what would one have had to do to not let their subscription 'lapse.'

Yep, just got the same email. I am livid. They are truly ripping off the people whose subscription hadn't lapsed.

I'm not sure what recourse we actually have but I can assure you I will be sending emails complaining to absolutely everyone involved and then some.

And I'm so pissed that I probably won't let it end at that. The whole way this has been handled has been a scam.

I certainly understand your frustration, and I can understand not wanting to join the site based on principle, but IMHO it seems to have the effectiveness of biting off your nose to spite your face.

I just got the same e-mail also.

Does anyone know the exact month/year of the last issue? I joined at the end of December 2001 and did receive on issue in the mail - but I can't remember when.

Thanks!

I got the friggin same response too..

This is my response:

Dear Rob,
This is untrue.! I signed up with propaganda in mid to late 2000 and Propaganda stopped taking new memberships in 2001 so how could my membership have lapsed. How can it be invalid when I only got 2 issues! I was supposed get 4! I was still active when they stopped taking new memberships. I am sorry I didnt keep my prop member Id number but I didn't foresee propaganda going defunct! I submitted a change of address to U2 Propaganda and they did nothing/ no response. What else am I supposed to do? You should be able to reference it by name and or address. I gave my address where I was located at the time and that should be enough. You need to try a little harder in locating this information. There are numerous people who signed up at the same time as I did and they received their letter. How do you explain that? You have a lot of upset u2 fans on your hands and are not handling it properly in my and their opinion. I for one am livid at this situation how badly it was handled.
I think I will take further action by letting Principle Management know how badly this is going.

Thank You,
Amy Phillips

I received the same response via email today after 2 phone calls to Fanfire and 2 emails to Fanfire and anyone else I could email.

Both people I spoke with didn't understand the whole Prop/membership issue.

I wonder if they did any research or just figured that they had to "end" this all sometiime soon as the tour dates are soon to be announced and following that, the pre-sale.

I am most upset.
