Courtesy of a text file with all U2 lyrics (from the main albums) some free time, and my trusty (rusty) programming skills, here's some trivia for you buffs with too much free time on your hands. :)

FYI, questions pertain to these albums only:
Boy
October
War
UF
JT
R&H
AB
Zooropa
Pop
ATYCLB

1. What is the longest word in a U2 song?

2. The word "The" appears over 1000 times. What is the FIRST song (based on Album release date and Album Tracking Listing order) that is DOESN'T have "The".

3. Bono loves the "Day". Some say it's his metaphor for his spiritual beliefs. Contrastly, the "Night" is the temptation luring him away from good. Which Album did he make NO reference to either day or night?

That should do for now. If more free time springs up, I may bore you with more stupid reasons to scan your CD booklets. :)

i'll have to cop out and say condemnation too.

i threw a brick through a window (track 3 off of october)

it's october. well, as long as you look at songs that have the words day and night. meaning, as long as you discount words like "today" and "tonight." if you don't, then there is no album like this.

I think the "the" song is Stories for Boys, from Boy

There's a place I go
When I am far away.
There's a T.V. show
And I can play.

Sometimes when a hero takes me
Sometimes I don't let go
Oh, oh, oh.

There's a picture book
With colour photographs
There's a comic strip
That makes me laugh

Sometimes away he takes me
Sometimes I don't let go.

Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys.

There's a place I go
And it's a part of me
There's a radio
And I will go

Sometimes a hero takes me
Sometimes I don't let go.

Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys
Stories for boys.
Stories for boys.
Stories for boys.
Stories for boys.
Stories for boys.

according to interference.com's lyrics, they're:

There's a place I go
And I am far away
There's a TV show
And I can grow

Sometimes the hero takes me
Sometimes I don't let go
Hello hello

There's a picture book
With colored photographs
There's a comic strip
That makes me laugh

Sometimes the lady takes me
Sometimes I don't let go
Hello hello

Stories for boys...stories for boys
Stories for boys...stories for boys
Stories for boys...

There's a place I go
And it's a part of me
There's a radio
And I will crawl

Sometimes the hero takes me
Sometimes I can't let go
Hello hello

Stories for boys...

i'm not saying these are the be all and end all of the lyrics, but i've never heard anyone call that line "sometimes away he takes me..."

1. (still unanswered) - There is one word longer than intransigence.

2. My answer was ITABTAW. My lyrics said "the hero" for Stories for Boys"

3. October is correct.

A real crowd pleaser this one.

Ahh, I think Mo got number 1! I would have never thought of responsibilities, but it is quite a long word.

I vote for "responsibilities" too. That's what came to my mind as I quickly sung my way through a few songs.

*keeps thinking*
