Should Bono ever release a solo album?

Much rather have an Edge solo album. You know, one with him singing throughout, not a primarily instrumental soundtrack album. The guy has a great voice.

I agree. Perhaps a few instrumentals worked in with some songs with vocals. Would be a nice mix.

I've thought about this and realised one thing I'd love to hear: an instrumental album by Edge, Adam, and Larry. That would be awesome. I doubt they'd ever do it, especially seeing they've generally shied away from instrumentals (save for the UF era), but if they did, I imagine I'd really like it.

Perhaps the three could work together on their own soundtrack...

NO WAY.

I am sick of these frontmen and women doing solo projects. They are famous for being in a band. I am still upset that Gwen Stefani went solo.

Bono has a strong influence as an individual artist, but he should not do solo albums.

How can you be upset with Gwen....her album blew away anything she ever did with No Doubt not to mention being one of the best pop albums from a female singer in the last couple years. Phenomenal solo debut. And I like Mrs. Springsteen's idea of something along the line of "spoken word" by Bono. I think he should creat a completely original album of songs he's penned....and do like a Bruce Springsteen "Devils and Dust" kind of album. If you ever saw Bruce's latest storytellers which included songs off D&D, he would half sing and hald talk out the words, while pausing throughout to explain what some of the words meant to him....something i would LOVE to hear Bono's do with his words. I think he's really writing great words lately and to make an album of some singing, some spoken word with maybe just him and an acoustic guitar(though his playing isn't the greatest so maybe his arrangments with session guys playing) would be cool. Bono used to be a singer first, writer second. I think now in his career, it's the other way around. His voice has weakened while his writing has only gotten stronger, not to mention more personal. An album by Bono where his words are the focal point and not his voice might be pretty damn refreshing. Plus he has that whole Irish accent when he talks which would probably sound pretty cool for the spoken word part...and perhaps even humorous if he guzzles a few pints of Guinness before recording!

How can you say that? Her solo stuff has been well beneath No Doubt's stuff. I've never heard a single song of hers that could compete with 'Don't Speak'.

Wrong, nothing can compete with the most amazing line of our generation: "B-A-N-A-N-A-S, this shit is bananas"

Poetry in motion...

Fuck Bono and the Edge, I want Larry to pull a Ringo and do an album of country and traditional Irish songs.

hopefully he will never release a solo album.
instead boner should start a career as pornstar...
snoop dog already dogged that path of entertainment:up:

Just like he should have stood up and sung "With a Little Help From My Friends" at Live8

If it ever happened at all, Bono would probably bring in Lanois and Eno to help out. Watch the extras in the Million Dollar Hotel DVD and you see him and Lanois pretty much write a song on the spot. I think that song is Ground Beneath Her Feet if I'm not mistaken (it's been a while since I've watched that DVD). Eno and Lanois are pretty much band members in the studio with them anyway.
