Is it just me, or are crap groups like NSync and Backstreet Boys getting a lot less airplay and coverage? I think "pop" may finally be dying!

Let's hope so. It's not a minute too soon.

Why do I know the title of this thread?

There's a song where they say that.

But even before the song came out, I've been saying that. I always yell it in the microphone at the karaoke bar I go to. OOOHHH. Tonight's karaoke night! *clearing my throat

But what about the 'Silver Platters'?

They had some far out and groovy tunes.

Just what Bono says...

From Ananova:

Bono says music has changed since September 11

Bono says musical tastes have changed since the US terror attacks
on September 11.

The U2 singer told a US newspaper that people are not impressed
by attitude anymore.

Instead he thinks the public want more genuine feelings from their
pop idols.

Bono told the Los Angeles Times : "People don't just want attitude in
music anymore. They want something more genuine because
something in the world has changed.

"I think young people want that as much as anyone else.

"A whole core of a city can be taken out by a suitcase filled with some
dirty nuclear bomb.

"That makes the sort of suburban angst that has been such a big part
of rock lately seem like something pretty small. The stakes are much
higher now."

*crackin' up at thread title* That song always makes me laugh...

"I don't know you,
But you don't know the half of it..."

Riding down the highway in a makeshift Model T.A.
Ooh Yeah (ooh)
Beautiful morning and it's gonna be a beautiful day.

The wheels are humming,
The guitar strumming.
The radio a blasting,
The good times a coming.
Riding down the highway in a makeshift Model T.A.

We're gonna keep on, keep on, keep on singing and dancing all through the night.
Keep on, keep on, keep on doing it right.
We're gonna keep on, keep on , keep on moving,
We're gonna keep on, keep on, keep on grooving.
Keep on singing and dancing all through the night.

You can hear the music from a hundred miles away

This is the song we sang as the Silver Platters!

Far Out, Man!

I think the Backstreet Boys are slowly on their way out. Their last album still sold well, selling 5 million in the US, but that was after the previous two each sold 12 million. 7 million girls lost interest, that one guy in the group had to go into re-hab, and the tour dates didn't all sell out. N'Sync's last single, "Gone", bombed. So hopefully this is starting a downward trend for the boy bands. Britney is still going pretty strong though. I think she's gonna last awhile.

As long as there are millions of teenagers with money from their part time jobs and no bills, there will always be "pop"

Well, her body is. Her latest single didn't even crack into the top 20. So we'll see.

pop's gonna go underground.

by spring we're gonna be going to really small but trendy 'pop' clubs in big cities to watch 'nsync play for 45 minutes before britney.
