2) I think falsetto can be used well, and Bono has done it before (the example I always throw out is the live version of Dirty Day). It should be sparingly.

Suitingly, my favorite part of the song is when Bono doesn't sing falsetto. I just hear that and think, "Wow! If only he'd sung like that the whole time, this would be one of my favorite songs! What a fucking waste of an opportunity."

I just ... can't agree with you. I think the falsetto as it is used perfectly suits the intended aesthetic of Lemon and it just wouldn't be right any other way.

I think it was fine during the chorus when Edge sang, and to contrast his speaking parts like "A man builds a city."

Again ... having a good video's fine, but I like a song to be seperate from its video. I think that argument fails if you're listening to the song not knowing it's MacPhisto.
