I, like many others, love the Rattle and Hum album, although I think most of us can agree that it's a bit uneven in spots. I think that it would've been better if U2 had left out the live tracks, and instead put out a studio album. Maybe they could've put some of the best live tracks from the movie on a bonus EP, with the remaining love songs being used as B-sides. Here's what I think these albums could have looked like:

Rattle and Hum:

1. Desire
2. Van Deimans Land
3. hawkmoon 269
4. Hallelujah here She Comes
5. When Love Comes To Town
6. Heartland
7. Angel Of Harlem
8. Love Rescue Me
9. A Room At The Hearbreak Hotel
10. Dancing Barefoot
11. God Part II
12. All I Want is You

Bonus Live EP

1. All Along The Watchtower
2. Sunday Bloody Sunday
3. Running To Stand Still
4. In God's Country
5. Pride

Singles:

1. Desire/ Helter Skelter (live)/ Bullet The Blue Sky (live)
2. Angel of Harlem/ Unchained Melody/ Streets (live)/
3. When Love Comes To Town/ Silver and Gold (live)/ Exit (live)
4. All I Want Is You/ MLK (live)/ Bad (live)

*Bad is, in my opinion, the best live performance in the movie, however it prevoiusly appeared on the WAIA EP, so I made it a b-side.

1. Desire
2. Hawkmoon 269
3. Angel of Harlem
4. Love Rescue Me
5. When Love Comes to Town
6. Heartland
7. Hallelujah Here She Comes
8. A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel
9. God Part II
10. Van Diemen's Land
11. All I Want is You

I would like to add Dancing Barefoot or Everlasting Love or even Jesus Christ, but U2 does not put covers on albums.

As for singles, I would go:
1. Desire
2. Angel of Harlem
3. All I Want is You
4. God Part II
5. Heartland

While I agree with the concept, it's been done before.

I wouldn't put Dancing Barefoot in, tacky to put a cover on a studio album.

All of the live tracks should've been made into a full live album.

R&H:

Desire
Hawkmoon 269
All I Want Is You
God Part II
Heartland
Love Rescue Me
A Room At The Heartbreak Hotel
Hallelujah(Here She Comes)
Angel Of Harlem
When Love Comes To Town
Van Dieman's Land

JT Live:

1.Streets
2.ISHFILF
3.With Or Without You
4.Bullet The Blue Sky
5.Running To Stand Still
6.In God's Country
7.One Tree Hill(the one found on the end of the best of 80-90 video, an R&H outtake)
8.Exit
9.Silver And Gold
10.Bad
11.SBS
12.Pride
13.MLK

They should have released an EP of the concert from Tempe where they recorded Streets... like the first 5 songs...

1. Where The Streets Have No Name
2. I Will Follow
3. Trip Through Your Wires
4. I Still Haven't Found...
5. MLK

I think you've got it pretty sussed with all that! I like the detail you've gone into with the singles! I'd personally have it flow like this though, almost like yours but without Dancing Barefoot, and flows in a way to suit my view of the album, but these things will always be a matter of opinion...

1. Desire
2. Hawkmoon 269
3. Van Deimans Land
4. Hallelujah here She Comes
5. When Love Comes To Town

6. Angel Of Harlem
7. Love Rescue Me
8. God Part II
9. Heartland
10. A Room At The Hearbreak Hotel
11. All I Want is You

I think I just always liked the way 'A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel' rounded of the B-sides 80-90 before 'Party Girl'...just seems 'right' to have it as the penultimate track. Has the really sound to it that sort of gives you the feeling you're approaching this huge climax, which of course you are...

edit - i said almost like yours, I've butchered it,

Yeah, it'd have been a godd idea too... let me see a godd tracklist...

4. Heartland
5. Love rescue me

8. Silver and gold - [studio]
9. God part II
10. All I want is you
