Private Universe/Acrobat?

So this might totally be me, but I was listening to Farewell to the World the other day and couldn't help but see the similarity between Crowded House's "Private Universe" and U2's Acrobat... the electric guitar sounds, the melody, especially around the "but I won't let go..." part.

Wasn't Acrobat started in Auckland, anyway?

I could be completely crazy, here.
