Okay, I've finally finished my own version of U2: The Best Of. It's more of a favourite songs album that also includes hits, and doesn't pay so much attention to spanning their entire career. I needed to create a definite theme, and a definite flow, and there's a lot going on here (at least two different stories mish-mashing into each other). Some songs didn't make the cut because of the 80 minute disc space. What do you think?

1. Angel of Harlem
2. New Year's Day
3. Sunday Bloody Sunday (Live, UABRSky)
4. Miss Sarajevo
5. October
6. Bad
7. Running To Stand Still
8. Where The Streets Have No Name (Live, Dublin '89)
9. Pride (In The Name Of Love)
10. One
11. With Or Without You (Live, R&H)
12. Stay (Faraway, So Close!) -- Live, Toronto ('Stuck' single)
13. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
14. The Unforgettable Fire
15. North And South Of The River (Live, Omagh)
16. Peace On Earth - Walk On (Heroes Tribute)

Here's another compilation I made a while back, which is all studio material, and includes a couple covers...(once again, great flow!)

Daylight

1. Sunday Bloody Sunday
2. In God's Country
3. Angel of Harlem
4. Kite
5. Everlasting Love
6. All I Want Is You
7. Where The Streets Have No Name
8. Out Of Control
9. Pride (In The Name Of Love)
10. Two Hearts Beat As One
11. The Ocean
12. Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
13. I Fall Down
14. Gone
15. Mysterious Ways
16. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
17. Satelite Of Love
18. MLK
19. Beautiful Day

Anyway, if any of you have your own compilations, feel free to share!

my relaxing U2 CD, the second edition, I really enjoy listening to it a lot, it's awesome.
All are studio versions.
1. Bad
2. Walk To The Water
3. Miss Sarajevo
4. Stateless
5. Heartland
6. Stay (Faraway, So Close)
7. Running To Stand Still
8. October

14. Never Let Me Go
15. Grace
16. Promenade
17. Wake Up Dead Man
18. MLK

Currently I'm working on a compilation of songs for my girlfriend, mostly the songs that mean the most to me, and that are just really good... it's not done yet, but so far I'm thinking of putting on it...
1. Please (single version)
2. Wake Up Dead Man
3. Walk To The Water
4. In A Little While
5. Stay (live from Toronto)
6. All I Want is You (possibly from Chicago, 05-16)
7. Bad
8. Bullet the Blue Sky
9. Running To Stand Still
10. Where The Streets Have No Name
(7-10 all from Zoo Europa bootleg)
11. With Or Without You (Rattle and Hum)
12. Love is Blindness (Stay single)
13. One (orchestral version from Miss Sarajevo single)

I'm not sure about WUDM, but it's a really special song to me.. I'm also thinking about adding So Cruel, Mysterious Ways, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, and One Tree Hill.. I also originally had Please/Streets from Rotterdam at the beginning, but I thought as great as Streets is, the space on the CD could be better used for something else.

I like you first list of songs...a lot!
I used to make a lot of tapes for people (the olden days of cassette tape, making covers with those symmetrical paint squish "artworks", the very olden days, lol) I always liked to finish with MLK and it was amazing the number of times it just fitted perfectly on the tape.

I prefer my compilations to have a "clashy" feel to them, with as many changes between the moods and styles as possible, and I also like them to follow "fast-slow-fast-slow" pattern and have a bombastic beginning. So here's my version of a "clashy" U2 compilation:

1) Pride
2) Miss Sarajevo
3) Mysterious Ways
4) Numb
5) Tomorrow
6) Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
7) Running to Stand Still
8) Elevation
9) Wake Up Dead Man
10) God Part II
11) Grace
12) In God's Country
13) The Fly
14) The Sweetest Thing
15) I Will Follow
16) The First Time
17) Big Girls Are Best

Night + Day (steel string remix)
I'm Not Your Baby (w/ Sinead)
Slug
Your Blue Room
Always Forever Now
Beach Sequence
Miss Sarajevo
Theme from The Swan
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Never Let Me Go
Stateless
Falling At Your Feet
Satellite of Love (reprise)
Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad
I've Got You Under My Skin
Stay (swing remix)
Slow Dancing (bono acoustic)

Actually I have to tell a great story about my first compilation there... on the van ride to Hamilton in Oct to see the Elevation show, we listened to that CD. And I thought it was the most profoundly beautiful music I'd ever heard. And then, it ended a couple minutes before we got to the arena. It was brilliant timing.

also...

Zoo Station
Even Better Than The Real Thing
One
Until the End of the World
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
So Cruel
The Fly
Mysterious Ways
Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
Acrobat
Love Is Blindness

and...

Where The Streets Have No Name * (5:37)
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (4:37)
With Or Without You * (4:56)
Bullet The Blue Sky * (4:32)
Running To Stand Still (4:18)

"It's no secret that our world is in darkness tonight..."

Wanderer,

That's very funny, hehe. Reminds me of what someone once said of the Best Of 1990 - 2000 album -- that they actually have already released, and called it ATYCLB. Isn't that terrible!!

But all seriousness aside, I still think that the Best Of 1980 - 90 had already been released:

1. Streets
2. Still Haven't Found
3. With or Without You
4. Bullet The Blue Sky
5. Running To Stand Still
6. Red Hill Mining Town
7. In God's Country
8. Trip Through Your Wires
9. One Tree Hill
10. Exit
11. Mothers of the Disappeared

Okay, now I'm being a bit facetious...

Anything will work, really, you can fit hundreds of mp3s on a CDR if you burn it as a data CD.

[This message has been edited by UnforgettableLemon (edited 12-16-2001).]

yeah, but can you play them on a CD player when they're data files?? I have a U2 data file that a friend burned for me (same thing - a BUNCH of stuff on it as data) but I cannot play it like I can my regular MP3 CDs...

I made this CD last year...

1. Zooropa
2. The Fly
3. Gone
4. Kite
5. The Ground Beneath Her Feet
6. Mofo
7. Acrobat
8. One
9. Please
10. Mysterious Ways
11. Where the Streets Have No Name
12. Until the End of the World
13. Staring at the Sun
14. With or Without You

Maybe I would do it differently now but I think it's pretty good...

This is cool Michael, U2 fans are so lucky, we have so many choices, LOL

SkeeK, your relaxing U2 CD is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing, cool little story you wrote above

.

I have these 3 CDs I asked a friend to burn to me. I didn't care that much about the ideal selection, just wanted to listen to the mp3s in my regular stereo, plus my son wanted to get rid off my tons of mp3s from his computer (if he could, he would, LOL). So my CDs are kinda weird, but I love them anyway. And here they go:

My CD1
1. Beautiful Day (from Rio 11/23/2000, their performance to Fant?stico TV show, guess why, LOL)
2. Elevation (idem above)
3. TGBHF (from TFI Friday, March 2000, I think, Bono and Edge, still the best version IMO)
4. Dreaming With Tears in My Eyes
5. Wild Irish Rose
6. Silver and Gold (original, from Sun City)
7. Beautiful Day (tracks 7 to 11 all from BBC Radio 1)
8. Elevation
9. New York
10. Stuck in a Moment
11. Mystery Girl
12. Ultraviolet (a live version I must I confess I don't know from which concert, it starts with MacPhisto talking on the phone with a girl from a flying company, he wants a flying ticket to somewhere and she offers one to Singapore...does anybody here knows this one? From which concert is the performance?)

My CD2
1. EBTTRT Perfecto mix (their best remix ever IMO)
2. Don't Take Your Guns to Town
3. One (Bono and Lanois, from Millenium Eve Washington)
4. Elevation Tom Raider remix
5. Children of the Revolution (Bono and Gavin Friday)
6. Beautiful Day (tracks 6 to 8 are all from the Brit Awards 2000)
7. One
8. UTEOTW (too bad the British TV cut out the ending)
9. SBS (from Rattle and Hum movie)
10. Boy/Girl (a live version, I have no clue from which concert though)
11. Be There
12. In a Little While (from Miami 03/26)

My CD 3
1. All I Want is You (from Omagh tribute)
2. North and South of the River (idem above)
3. Hawkmoon 269/Desire/Running to Stand Still (from Cologne)
4. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock (from Chicago 5/15)
5. Out of Control (idem above)
6. Kite (from London 08/21, beautiful)
7. One (idem above)
8. Spanish Eyes (from Barcelona)
9. We Love You (from Anaheim, will we eventually know what is the real name of this song?)
10. WOWY (from East Rutherford 6/22)
11. Stay (from Faraway So Close movie soundtrack)
12. Stuck in a Moment (acoustic)

I'm already thinking about my CD4.

If you have an Mp3 playing CD Player. But they're really expensive, I don't have one, but my friend Marion does.
