Perfect ATYCLB... and a comment/message to...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Since I'm honored to be on U2girl's "ignore list" I'd like to mention something to the rest of the people that care to read...

I NEVER said anyone has to be ashamed of liking POP, unlike what YOU are obviously trying to do with people who like ATYCLB. Do not put words in my mouth.

Quickly changing the subject and attacking instead of replying. And making up some stories. Now It is I that have a right to say "Do not put words in my mouth."

NOT TRUE. I have yet to see an analisis why ATYCLB is that bad, all I see is hate for that album. Once again, who has problems?

Yes, worshippers because they can't give an honest, fair, unbiased opinion on ATYCLB

Yes, of course. And the next thing she's going to say is that the first post and a few more (not only by me) do not exist.
Well, I'll leave that without a comment.

OK, I asked you not to put words in my mouth...
But they were actualy her words...

1. Beautiful Day: Leave it! This is one of the best written songs ever..
2. Levitate: Agreed. I really like this one
3. Elevation – I am torn on this song. The second coming of Party Girl…
4. Stuck: If you have to have it (and the album does) go with the acoustic version)
5. Kite – Not as big of a fan as the rest of you, but the lyrics are terrific
6. Flower Child – Because Elevation cannot lead into Kite (F-I-L-L-E-R)
7. In a Little While – perfect pop song. Can’t believe it wasn’t a single.
8. The Ground Beneath Her Feet
9. Summer Rain – Not a great song, but this album needs it.
10. New York – One of my U2 favorites
11. Stateless – Perfect song leading into Walk On
12. Walk On – Single Version is a great album closer

Almost the same as mine... and believe me, it is better than the real thing, IMO.

1. Beautiful Day
2. Stuck In A Moment - the acoustic version
3. Elevation
4. Summer Rain
5. Kite - unchenged - the only thing done right on the real album
6. In a little While
7. New York
8. The Ground Beneath Her feet - because it's a "classic" and it's a shame it was wasted for a soundtrack **Ditto!!!
9. When I look At The World
10. Peace on earth
11. Walk on (one of the sinle version!)
also better IMO

in my honest opinion all of you lack knowledge of music to be warranted an opinion on it
I could be wrong of course, but I'll stick by this for now

Does (any) knowledge of music is requiered to have an opinion on what a person can feel in the music, if music is good, has a soul, sounds (production) good or bad?

Technical stuff is for a limited number of people, the rest can only "feel" the music.

I am saddened to say that Jick made the most sense in this thread

I will now go and weep

I'll stand behind my "knowledge of music". thanks.

This is the way I would listen to it:

Ground Beneath Her Feet
Elevation(Influx)
Levitate
Beautiful Day
New York
When I Look At The World
Stuck In A Moment(Acoustic)
Summer Rain
Flower Child
Kite
Stateless
Walk On(Video Version)

Are the children done bickering? Here's how it should be:

1. Beautiful Day
2. Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
3. Big Girls Are Best
4. Elevation
5. Walk On (Single Version)
6. Kite
7. In A Little While
8. Wild Honey
9. Love You Like Mad
10.The Hands That Built America
11.When I Look At The World
12.Stateless
13.New York
14.Peace On Earth
15.Electrical Storm
16.The Ground Beneath Her Feet
17.Grace

Nice and long, touching on many feels and colours, and short enough to fit on a 80 minute cdr.

In A Little While, Wild Honey, Peace On Earth, and Grace don't need to be there, Electrical Storm fits better with HTDAAB, Hands doesn't fit with any record(better as a single), Stuck should be the acoustic version, and Big Girls is worst of it, Summer Rain, and Always. And this list is too long.

I'd still listen to it though.

Seriously though. If those songs are conections to previousl albums then Playboy Mansion is a connection to IALW.

Bono and/or Edge told in an interview that God Part II was the link between RH-AB. I have the mag.

With Pride and the others i was pushing a bit...LOL

Interesting. Will you post that sometime? i would like to read it.

What mag is it?

I don't have a scanner mate. The mag is an old NME. Do you really want to read it or are you just testing me? If you really wanna read i can try typing the interview. But if you are testing me...well, you know what to do! LOL

I would really like to read it, but don't type it. Those articles are fricken long. Thanks though.

this thread makes for a good laugh.

i am kind of dissapointed that not even i ever made it on u2girl's ignore list.

My ATYCLB is perfect. But, more interesting albums to mix and match with are Zooropa and UF.

1. Zooropa
2. Babyface
3. Your Blue Room
4. Numb
5. Lemon (Lemonade Mix)
6. Miss Sarajevo
7. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
8. Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car
9. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
10.Some Days Are Better Than Others
11.The First Time
12.Slow Dancing
13.Dirty Day (Junk Day)
14.The Wanderer

This makes Zooropa the complete album I want it to be. HMTMKMKM add some balls to the record, and it helps the title track as one of the faster songs on the record. Lemon (Lemonade Mix) is almost identical to the record version, but the effect on Edge's guitar is more guitar like. And the organic Slow Dancing balances the outaspace feel of the rest of the album.

And as for UF, well, add in the power pop that is Three Sunrises, and a few of the B-side instrumental tracks, and it gets even moodier.

1. A Sort Of Homecoming
2. Bass Trap
3. Pride (In The Name Of Love)
4. Sixty Seconds In Kingdom Come
5. Wire
6. The Unforgettable Fire
7. Promenade
8. Love Comes Tumbling
9. 4th Of July
10.The Three Sunrises
11.Bad
12.Indian Summer Sky
13.Boomerang II
14.Elvis Presley And America
15.Mlk

These are both great, I did them after smoking some ganja, whilst drinking Guinness.

I prefer:

Ground Beneath Her Feet
Elevation
Beautiful Day
New York
Stuck in a Moment
In a Little While
Kite
When I Look at the World
Peace on Earth
Walk On
Grace
Summer Rain

How about this one for All That You Can't Leave Behind:

1. Beautiful Day (Live in Studio - Int. Radio Sessions CD-R Promo)
2. Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix)
3. Stuck In A Moment (Acoustic Version)
4. Walk On (Single Mix)
5. Kite
6. Original Of The Species (Originally from these sessions)
7. Love You Like Mad
8. The Ground beneath her feet
9. Stateless
10. In A Little While
11. Love and Peace Or Else (Originally from these sessions)
12. Peace on Earth
13. New York (Nice Mix)
14. When I Look At The World
15. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your own (Originally from these sessions)
16. Falling At Your Feet (Originally from these sessions as Adam mentioned in a Dutch interview in 2000)

That leaves Grace, Wild Honey, Summer Rain, Always and Big Girls are Best as B-sides

Cheers Rob

By The way : Neon Lights is from these sessions as well (recorded in 2000 for a kraftwerk comp. disc that was never released). So you can add that one as well for a b-side.

For falling at your feet I'd use the MDH Version, not the Lanois Version released in 2003

Rob

ow, and I forgot to mention Levitate and Flower Child for B-sides of course..nice tunes but really b-side material

it also seems that Are you Gonna Wait forever is from the ATYCLB Sessions as it also was produced by Eno/Lanois...looks like a left over as well.

and now for Pop (a cd-R i actually burned and it sounds great):

1. Discotheque (regular version not the best of version)

2. Do you feel loved (could have been better produced but it's still a great song IMHO)

3. Mofo (...same here..)

4. If God Will Send (Single Version)

5. Staring at the Sun (regular version not the best of version)

6. Holy joe (Garage Mix)

7. Last Night on Earth (Single Mix)

8. Always Forever Now (Just for it's upbeat rhythm)

9. Miami (...could also have been better produced but OK...)

10. Gone (Mike Hedges Mix)

11. The Playboy Mansion

12. I'm not Your Baby (from End of violence soundtrack)

13. Please (single version)

14. North and South Of The River

15. Velvet Dress

16. Wake Up Dead Man

17. Your Blue Room (This is from these sessions actually..)

People, are you crazy(ok, yes you are) but you just can't say that ATYCLB isn't perfect album and remaking it with different tracklisting. That's stupid!!!
What is wrong with you????If u2 made it then it's not bad.
Now, what you're saying is that every album should have a mix of one song(that mix was made few years after the album) and at least 17 songs, which is too much even for the best of!!!!!!!!

STOP COMPLAINING LIKE YOU'RE THE SMARTEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK I can't help it that you don't get it..maybe you are not that smart :eyebrow:

This was just meant for fun, don't take this too serious. I like to listen to these tracks in these orders en with these songs just as much as listening to the real thing the band gave us years ago.

There is nothing wrong with suggesting some experimenting, even if the CD becomes 17 songs long.

relax, just listen to the stuff (or not if you don't want to) but don't bitch about it...

Rob

I would trade Wild Honey for Summer Rain and In a Little While for Beneath her Feet. 'Feet is so fucking awesome.

But I also 'get' that Little While & Honey are what really make ATCYLB the album it is.

as for the album, it is the way it is.

there's a couple of really nice songs on it, and that's about it for me.

but since i'm not about to change my mind on the album, why don't you atyclb lovers go and headbang to it like there's no tommorow, and all you haters of it go and destroy your copy?

there, issue settled.
