I'm hosting the Super Bowl party for my department's fellow grad students, and I have a pretty decent set-up: my PC right next to the big TV, thus allowing me to rip MP3s from my CDs, make a playlist, and have music going while we hang out that afternoon, play card games, and await the Bears/Steelers Super Bowl.

Anybody else have any real cool party playlists?

My friends are from the ghetto (ha ha ha) so maybe the taste in music will be different than that of the Grad Studetns but I recently hosted a party and made the CDs we played more mindless fun music, the stuff that would make most Interferencers cringe! Well, some of it!

Plus the goal was to ultimately get people to dance at the party I recently hosted (a housewarming/Christmas Party) and so this is cut straight from the list of what was played that night (some of it at least).

How does Johnny Cash fit in there?

I prefer U2LA ?s list even though it is far from being perfect, but well taste is taste and it?s a fine start.

A pity there are some tunes missing...

play that funky music white boy...
or a little tricky/ cypress hill would add some mood...

however.

As another fellow grad student, I definitely prefer Bubba's list but it could use some revisions.

1. Replace Dido with Travis
2. Use Roxanne instead of Sting's If you Love...
3. Find a place for Another Brick in the Wall (part 2)
4. OUTKAST!!!!!! Ms. Jackson if you want to play it smooth or B.O.B for a little booty shakin.

Underworld - Born Slippy
AC/DC - Highway to Hell

one of these 2 songs should be played

------------------
Salome
Shake it, shake it, shake it

Love your list as it is! I'd add Party Girl in there somwhere, cause it is such a fun off the wall song. BTW I do believe the Rams will be in the super bowl, sorry to have to bash your perfect line up!

I'd say throw in some Smashing Pumpkins, and maybe some Foo Fighters. Nirvana couldn't hurt either.

Change is the only constant

Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually, Johnny Cash doesn't fit, but "Ring of Fire" is such an odd song.

Also, I've been trying to limit myself to songs I actually own, just so it's at least slightly representative of my tastes.

Honestly, I could just pop in all my CCR, Tom Petty, George Thorogood, the Temptations, and U2 and I'd be fine.

cake I will survive

stones emotional rescue

loverboy turn me loose

springsteen dancing in the dark

the cars candy - o

I better stop. I think I am showing my age. I am reading off of my tapes I made for my 20 year class reunion.

"Ring of Fire" is one of Cash's best, so keep it in there!

And I think you meant Bears vs. the Patriots in the Super Bowl, not Pittsburgh. I'll forgive your clear typo.
