I know the hometown factor must have played a part, but Arcade Fire absolutely owned the audience at the Montreal gigs, particularly towards the end of their set. It was their first arena shows and by the time they left the stage(can't remember if it was Montreal 1 or 2) playing Rebellion(Lies) the crowd was singing and clapping along as if they were the main act. It was quite a sight to behold and cemented my admiration for the band, particularly their live shows.
