I found this article at www.u2audio.com

"U2swisshome.com has receive exclusive information from Universal Music about
the coming U2 Single and Album release. The exact title of the 'Best Of'
compilation is not know yet, but it is thought from various rumours that the
album will cover the years 1990 - 2001. Now we can exclusively reveal the
following information:

16 September 2002 new U2 single released to radio
21 October 2002 new U2 single - commercial release

11 November 2002 new U2 'Best Of' compilation released as double CD set. The
first CD will include 17 tracks, including the brandnew U2 single as well as
another new track. The bonus disc will feature rarities and b-sides from the
90's

18 November 2002 new U2 'Best Of' compilation released as standard
single-disc edition.

early December 2002 new U2 "Best Of 1990 - 2000" DVD release. This DVD will
include the video clips to all tracks from the CD as well as special
features.

Promotion the following material will be used to promote these releases:
-U2 "Live At Slane Castle", 45/50 minute film of the U2 concert, Slane
Castle, 1 September 2001
-'track by track' video interview
-TV Performance of the new U2 Single (with and without "Top Of The Pops"
logo)
-the band will not be available for further promotion.
"
-----------------------

Why is the Slane DVD only 45/50 mins? Why can't they just release the whole thing? And I think its a shame they chose September 1 - no "A Sort of Homecoming".

Can anyone confirm whether or not this is reliable?

First of all does the above state that the Best of DVD will include the Slane show as a special feature?? If so that'd make up for it only being 50 minutes. Not very clear though, and with the way Bono and The Edge have talked about Slane2 and how the recording looks, I'd say they'll be making the most of it and releasing it as a stand alone DVD.

And I would be glad it is Slane2, A sort of Homecoming woulda been unique to have, but performance wise Slane2 kicked ass, and Out Of Control...........

im confused...

are we getting only this 50 min recording of slane or do we get that plus the actual release later on?

anyone?

Since it says promotion for the releases, maybe the Slane show will be shown as a 1 hour special on abc or somesuch. but i'm not really sure what they're all talking about there.

Didn't we hear the U2 was going to have a special on ABC or CBS or something in the fall? Was it for sure going to be Slane?

My impression is that the TV Special in the late Fall timeframe will be the Slane Concert and it may be an edited version for television for commentary (hopefully not) and this may be on the Best Of DVD as an add on. Who knows!! Hopefully we'll get both a Best Of DVD and a SLANE DVD, but it may be too much (too much is never enough for us though!!)

Hope for the best, but the bottom line is we're getting atleast 2 new songs, probably 3 with Hands and I imagine a good amount of surprises with the double cd and dvd!!!

Oct, Nov can't come fast enough....
