That is according to the Edge....from a Q magazine interview. They say they are well on the way to finish this album and I remember them mentioning songs like "Original of Species"(I thought it was origion of species?!?!) and now I can't remember the other two. One of the songs is reported as being U2s rawest song ever. Of course this is all speculation, but I find it interesting that they are prepared to release a new album already this summer only 7 months after the release of a Best Of.....90s. I'm surprise no one has posted this yet but perhaps its old news, or people have had enough speculation for a while. I just recently saw this today. Its interesting and exciting that a brand new studio album may only be 8 months away.

U2's Edge Says New Album Could Arrive ByNext Summer

(10/14/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- A U2 album of all-new material could arrive by
next summer, according to the band's guitarist, the Edge.

Speaking with Ireland's Hot Press magazine, the guitar player, whose
real name is Dave Evans, said the group plans to have a new album
completed and in stores by mid-2003. He told the Dublin-based
magazine that the band is on a roll in the studio, and likened the new
recordings' sound to U2's early days, with "simple, stripped-down
arrangements."

The band's sessions at Hanover Quay studios have already resulted in
two new songs, "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America,"
both of which will appear on U2: Best Of 1990-2000, due November 5
on Interscope Records.

Other tracks from the recent U2 sessions include "Sometimes You Can't
Make It On Your Own," "Original Of The Species," and a song called "All
Because Of You," which Hot Press says singer Bono described in two
words: "The Who!"
