well i think the whole thing with mac and the fly is that both of them are bono and his two personalities. the good and bad side. the fly representing his "batman" or hero and macphisto being "the riddler" side. It's an allusion to batman in that bono is like bruce wayne being a person who chooses to be bruce wayne or batman. Its a video interpretation of internal termoil and duality.
