Miracle Drug
A Man and a Woman
Sometimes You Can't Make it on your own
Are You Gonna Wait Forever?

I know that the sound has probably changed somewhat, but it amazes me how much material came out of these sessions.

this is from one of Swans post on this board from May

Left off of Behind:
Original of the Species*
Yesterday and Tomorrow*
Sun Moon Stars *
Sometime *
Stir My Soul
Stranded *
Bulldozer *
Levitation-Bono describes this song as a direction that the album could have gone.
Jubilee
Novelty Act-rumoured song to appear on Stuck in a Moment single.
Busy Bee-seen on Beautiful Day video. Again the white board under Elevation.

Yes I was just thinking the other day, how many Behind leftovers are still around and how many will appear on the album? (I remember people talking about an article where it said they had over a 100 songs - or at least ideas - covering all genres for ATYCLB)

Swan269, I thought all the songs you listed are new "Vertigo/Dismantle" material?

Miracle Drug
A Man and a Woman

I've never seen these listed as ATYCLB leftovers. Is there a list somewhere with these songs on it?

I posted this a while back in another thread. I think it's still interesting to look at. I wonder what other titles will look familar...

"I believe Miracle Drug may be a song carried over from the last album. I did a little google search and found an archived page from u2log discussing the Rock Hall of Fame exhibit a while back. One astute poster took notes on Brian Eno's studio notebooks that were on display. Miracle Drug was one of the titles. There's a few other interesting ones as well.

You'll have to cut and paste the link if you want to see what I'm talking about..."

· Are You Going To Wait Forever?
· Roll The Rocking Chair

I have to say I think my favorite title on this list is Roll the Rocking Chair. I think it may have been a very late night and maybe they were a bit punch drunk when they came up with that one. I wonder what it sounds like...

I'd buy a box set of this.

Bloody hell look at all them songs we never heard! Love to have those tapes i tell ya.......probably mostly instrumentals but, wow!

I wonder how many of those turned into ATYCLB and ES, etc.

alot of those song titles are pretty lame...
"Good Morning"
"Higher Than Love"
"Don't Steel My Heart"
???

come on....

· Once Upon A Time (“...when I look at the world—with Indian singing intro”) - Hmmmmm, I would love to listen to this one. It could either be Bono humming an Indian type of melody (like that Arabic sounding intro that he used to hum as the intro of some Zoo TV shows) or maybe an Indian group hired by the guys.

· Frog Rock with synth part (“...Wanting to believe”) - :hmm:

· Cowboy Miracle - Maybe a good country rock feel to this track....

· Bulldozer (“complex chords, but it works) - I must listen to this one! :hyper:

my oh my oh my so much songs!!

We were kind of talking about this in another thread: Sun Moon Stars and Novelty act are carry-overs from the Pop sessions.

What interests me in that list is the fact that Eno refers to "A Man and A Woman" as (Boomerang 3)...that's an interesting hint to the direction of this particular song...the lyrics to "Boomerang II":

Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Under her skin I hear her within
Under her love at peace with him
Under her hands that which I'm needing
Under her eyes I glimpse her love

Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Under her time I think I'm missing
Under her lie I hear her love
Under her breath I hear nothing
Under her eyes I disappear

Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Under the sky I'm pointing there
Under the power, baby

You say run away
Throw me away
Throw me away

In the drift we've come
In the drift we go
In the drift we had come
In the drift we go

Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Under her skin I feel loving
Under her sign there is no fear
Under her hands, that which I'm holding
Under her eyes I disappear

Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows

In the drift we come
Soul wind blows
In the drift we go
Soul wind blows
In the drift we've come
Soul wind blows
In the drift we go
Soul wind blows
In the drift we come
Under her
In the drift we go
Under her
In the drift we come
Under her
In the drift we go
Under her
Soul wind blows
Soul wind blows
Under her hands
Soul wind
Some day throw me away
Fade it away
Throw it away

In the drift we've come
In the drift we go
In the drift we come
In the drift we go
In the drift we come
Soul wind blows
In the drift we go
Soul wind blows
In the drift we come
Soul wind blows
In the drift we go
Soul wind blows
In the drift we come
In the drift we go

Boomerang II was definitely interesting... I don't think it's close to being album worthy though.

Hopefully A Man and A Woman isn't too similar.

I would love Man & A Woman to remind me of the Boomerangs, they were great pieces.

I bet most of those were bits of songs, hooks, melodies, riffs and whatnot that evolved into other things.

It's great to dream though, since I've been appreciating ATYCLB more lately.

they ended up on the "bomb" but were around during "behind"

Wasn't Bulldozer turned into Electrical Storm? I'm pretty sure of that...

Also, sounds like "Sun Moon Stars" = Thank You (well Thank you mentions the sun and the stars, not sure about the moon).
