Bono has SAID things in favor. Please don't make me look!

Well but I though it was related to lyrics but ....... Not tryin to get into economics arguments and all

But it must be said , that the very controlled capitalism it's the best way to get a country outta poverty and keep a country working and developin . Of Course the brutal , cruel one must be extinct , but comes someone and says socialism it's bullshit

Socialism only came up to produce Rich dictators , and people call it fair ......... How much is fair that u work ur ass hard a lot , and u can't buy a decent car to u and ur family while there's a motherfucker who's one of the richest guys of the world

Not from any lyrics but I really can't stand all that 'Larry still is 14' stuff... Funny at first, but just daft 300 gigs later..

Agreed.

Bono tends to recycle the same material over and over and over again... The first time you hear U2 being compared to the mob or Edge being from Outer Space or "Sexy Music" or whatever, it's cool... The 100th time in an interview or at a concert, it gets a little old...

In terms of lyrics:

"There's an insect in your ear
If you scratch it won't disappear.
It's gonna itch and burn and sting
Do you wanna see what the scratching brings!"

Ugh... gives me the creeps every time I hear it...

But then what are your ideas for a controlled capitalism, where it can still be called capitalism? I mean, supposedly, capitalism is better for the individual, but in a free market economy, laborers are exploited and the distribution of wealth favors the upper class. It also leads to globalization as companies try to monopolize the market.

I truly believe that capitalism is responsible for the socioeconomic inequalities we have today. I'm not saying socialism is perfect, but capitalism sure has some nasty flaws.

I don't know what the right answer is, but I just don't feel like continuing down the same path we have been for so many years is going to improve anything.

One of the only times I was truly embarrassed to be a U2 fan was because of the Milan DVD. When Bono is talking to the crowd, saying"sexy bone-o" and "its ok to be uncool", all that crap. That was horrible, the whole speech makes me shudder with shame, especially when he was making them swing side to sde. eeuurrgghh

actually he was playing with the crowd, since he first said 'Milano, sexy people' and then he said 'Bono, Bono, sexy person"
but I'm pretty sure that you are not aware of the fact that bono means sexy guy/person in italian slang  Bono has been told this by fans, so he knows..

or "We call Edge's mum 'Mrs The Edge"
Actually, what he said during the Elevation tour was 'Even his mother calls him The Edge'

I just noticed these are from the same person, get your quotes right please

Well, with regard to the first point, i dont give a shit what Bono means in Italian slang, he still sounded and looked like a dork
With regard to the second, he has said that quote tonnes of time on tv about "mrs The Edge", the last time I heard it being when they were interviewed by June Sarpong on C4, I never said anything about the elevation tour. So please check what youre talking about before you make any more snidey comments about me.

Let Bono be a dork, man. There are much worse things that could be said by someone.

Very true, he's always been a bit dorky, especially when he's tried to be cool and I have always loved him for that, just this debarcle in Milan took it to a whole new level where I couldn't even watch!

Next to Slane, Milan is probably my favourite DVD in terms of Bono acting. Loosened up, and funny and a little less desperately trying to look cool than his usual.

In recent interviews, I again, as in 2004, keep hearing him say "We're making our best music ever"

After hearing Windows in the Sky, it sounds to me like they're making Coldplays best music ever.

i hate when Bono makes a speech and says

I'm Bono, Im a rockstar....:duh: everyone knows how he is

And then it :blahblah: about comming from Ireland

I love Bono dearly but im sure everyone know that already

There are people out there who don't know, as shocking as that may seem.

says you? not me!

"I looooove you, I love you like mad"

Doesn't get more cliche than that.

This bloody thread makes me groan! I thought you were supposed to be fans?

Just because people are fans doesn't mean they have to love every single thing that comes from Bono.

Oh I remember the one I was going to put here before :D

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.....

X-it 7, first thing, it's Window in the skIES, not windows in the sky(god, how many years from now will we STILL see this here?)
and second, what's a coldplay?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I like Walk On and it has a fair bit of sentimental value to me, but you have to admit some of its lyrics are pretty cliche.

For me, "Walk On" is the most inspirational song in U2's songbook. And it is absolutely the song that turned me into a fanatic. Yes, I have always, liked U2, going back to the 1980's but All That You Can't Leave Behind turned me into a fanatic for life.

From my perspective, "Walk On" it a profound song and has absolutely no cliche lyrics whatsoever.

"more than a lot" part of One...makes me cringe...beautiful song but that line seems like he gave up or something.
