I've got a friend who's putting together a radio programme which looks at mistakes in songs that have been officially released, but you don't realise are there unless you're told about them.

The sort of things he's thinking about are accidental swear words, or drummers dropping their drumsticks and things like that

He's already got a motown and rolling stones section, and wants to do U2 montage as well.

Anyone know of any good U2 ones, that you can hear quite clearly without having to turn your amp up full?

I think Larry drops a stick in Ultraviolet ... Bono studders a word in Shadows and Tall Trees ... there is a website about this I think called "three sunrises", is that still around?

There was definitely a website called 'Mysterious Ways, the hidden messages site' which had things like this on, but it seems to have been pretty much taken down.

Not a studio track, but Edge very clearly screws up in Party Girl, on Under a Blood Red Sky, prompting Bono to shout, "It's our hero!"

Is it true that larry mucks up the start of unforgettable fire, or was that deliberate

in the beginning of SYCMIOYO, Edge hits a "sour" note. It's pretty obvious when you are looking for it. It occurs before there is any singing.

I've listened to it so many times but I don't hear any screw ups! why do they leave these screw ups in there? odd...

Oh and if you play Vertigo backwards...well...

Sometimes a take with a screwed up bit is better emotionally than a note perfect one. As one of my teachers says "Groove Reigns Supreme"

You will probably think I'm crazy, but I've always heard about 2 1/2 minutes into "I Still haven't found what I'm looking for" a doorbell. Seriously. Once the song was playing on my stereo, and my friend stopped and asked if someone just rang the doorbell. This was back in the late 80's and it was a tape, but I swear I still hear it.

The guitar solo Bono did on the last(?) track of AB.

One of the JT era Bsides has a very obvious out-of-tune guitar.

The POP album has slight differences on the international relaease than american version.

during the bridge in Elevation you can hear a muffled "this is rediculous" which sounds like it might be Eno saying it...not sure though.

On "Love Rescue Me" (the studio version), about 1/2 way through, Adam goes to the wrong chord, and it's very obvious. Also, the bass on "Two Hearts Beat as One" is a little flat all the way through.

During the solo in Acrobat you can hear this conversation.

Bono: I want some ice cream
Larry: Ok, let me get it for you
Bono: Thanks buddy
Larry: What flavor do you want?
Bono: The usual flavor
Larry: Strawberry?
Bono: No Larry, Chocolate
Larry: Silly me *giggles*
Adam; Where is the toilet?
Bono: You dont know where the toilet is?
Adam: Well excuse me for not knowing
Larry: Silly Adam *giggles*

And when the song is over you can hear this.

Adam: Come on guys !! where is the damn toilet
Larry: *giggles*

And in the middle of Miracles drug you can hear this.

Bono: I like Coldplay
Larry: Maybe, but i like them more than you do
Bono: No way Larry
Larry: Yes way
Adam: Stop it guys !!, you know that i like them more than both of you.
Larry: Thats not true Adam !! take it back
Bono: Yeah Adam
Adam: But its the truth
Edge: Cut it out, the song is almost over.
Bono: Sorry Edge
Larry: Ok Edge
Edge: Good
Adam: Ok, but i still like Coldplay better than any of you guys.
Bono, Larry, Edge: Ahhhhh Adam !!!!
Bono, Larry, Edge, Adam: *giggles*

Adam leans over to somebody and whispers: Coldplay signed my ticket stub.

Some of the drumfills on the early albums are out of time.

A lot of them are, yes. Even Sunday Bloody Sunday's drumming sounds very amateur, despite the fact the drums are the most obvious feature of the song. Larry definitely got a lot better as time went on, and now he's fantastic. He had the raw talent in the beginning, but he just needed a little more polish to become a great drummer.

The infamous bass line change after the first half or so on Please.

there's nothing wrong with it; let it go; you don't know what you're talking about.

I went to battle with jick over this 3 years ago......still a sore spot with me.
