Mermiad Theories...and oh my, Bono Stubble!

I finally managed to see the video for the 2nd time. I was beginning to think it was something I was only going to see and then have it as some distant dream in my head that only exists in my imagination, but alas...

I was so overcome with LustyLarryness on the 1st viewing that I didn't even notice the major major Bonolicious BonoStubble!!
My God, that man is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I have that out of my system now and I have a theory on the mermaid screaming at Larry.
I think perhaps Anton has been watching one too many Disney flicks and they were fighting because Larry realizes even though he truly loves mermaid girl he must give her up as their 2 worlds could never exist as one.
He loves her enough to let her go, and of course she doesn't agree(what girl wouldn't after having that tongue run up your neck ) and is shouting at him because he is acting like he doesn't care about her anymore. He tells her they are through, and she must go back to the sea. She is heart broken and takes off into the ocean again, never knowing that her true love had given her up to save her.

Awww, and who said U2 weren't a lovey dovey bunch?

You think I'm clueless, what's your theory?

p.s. As ive said elsewhere, the deer is just there to confuse us fans like Edge's number shirts. That or my Disney theory is correct and its Bambi's Mother.

I am not a Bono-scruff girl at all. I really don't like that stuff on his face, it makes him look scuzzy. I mean that wasn't just a little stubble that was gnarly like a homeless person! I'm glad he shaved it off since then. But I have wondered about that deer since the first day the stills were posted. I'm still surprised that Larry went so far in the video!

Someone on PLEBA mentioned something to this effect about the deer...

The whole video seems to be about trying to live in a world that's not fit for them...i.e. the mermaid can't stand on land forever. She doesn't belong there. Therefore, she must leave Larry behind...

Another clue to this theme is Larry pulling the bathtub and whatnot out of the ocean at the beginning...

So the deer leaps past Larry and Samantha in the middle of the city. Well, I guess I can't really say if it's a city, but it's not the forest, where deer belong...and if you'll notice, Larry and Samantha start fighting soon after the deer shows up.

Cowgirl gal, nice explanation! I agree w/ everything you said (and laughed with it too! cute!)

i just think it's so sexy & romantic how he shoves and pulls and pushes that bathtub filled with water up on shore so they can be together......... and then how he sets her free again so she can live..

Bambi!

Oh i posted this in Pleba too - mebbe it's obvious! but the part where they aren't filming the porno i mean larry/mermaid, and are filming the band- it's as if there is a lightening storm going on outside and the electricity has gone out inside, the way the light flashes sporadically from the windows. yeah.

*goes back to stalk MTV so she can tape it*

So I guess you could call it the "Deer of domestic discontent."

Yeah, olive, I also thought that the strobelights on the band performance were symbolic of the lightning. I think that goes for the fireworks too.

This video rocks.

Yeah! and the fireworks..... most likely the same ones shot off for Bono & Ali's anniversary celebration!
