I found this on amazon.co.jp (Amazon Japan). Thought it might help people to decide which edition to buy.

Japanese pressing scheduled to include a bonus track on the audio disc, 'Fast Cars' along with a bonus DVD (NTSC/Region 2) which features the same content as the US edition. Packaged in a very limited hardcover book. Limited to 10000 copies. Island. 2004. * Please note the only thing exclusive in this box set is the aforementioned bonus track. The DVD and Special Packaging are available on the US edition.

U2tour.de and U2achtung.com are reporting that Fast Cars will be in every country not only on the Box set, but on the regular CD/DVD edition as well! And the Vinyl, too. So, the CD version excluding UK, Japan and maybe Australia, is the only version of the album without this song.

I thought the UK verison was supposed to have this song?I pre-ordered it from Amazon.co.uk due to this( & also as it was "not available" at amazon(US)-until yesterday )

Now I am hear that even the UK version does not have this song-is this correct? someone please confirm whether this song is there or not

I haven't heard any song except "Vertigo" & that combined with the above stated problem is driving me nuts

I don't blame you! I want to pre-order the CD+DVD+Book edition, but I won't do it until I know I'm getting Fast Cars. However, I fear that if I wait much longer, I will totally miss out on it altogether. I don't want to just throw away AUS$50-60 in the hope that I'll get Fast Cars. I don't want to download an MP3 of this because I like lossless music. I'm tolerating the MP3s we have of the album, but I know that's only a temporary situation.

(And I also don't want to believe Fast Cars will be on any edition just because of officially unconfirmed statements on U2 fansites.)

Well, I am buying my country's collector's edition (Canada) and I am hoping that Fast Cars is on it. If not, then I'll buy the cheapest import possible of a regular cd with the bonus track. I am not sweating over it really. Besides, its going to be difficult to transport this collector's edition around so it might be excuse enough to buy the cd with the bonus track separate. Then again, it could be solved with the digital box set period.

"Fast Cars" will be included on
* ALL box set versions of the album worldwide
* the deluxe CD & DVD set in the UK, Ireland, and Japan
* the standard CD in the UK, Ireland, and Japan
* the vinyl
