Macphisto: stroke of genius or lapse of reason?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I like to fuck things up

I thought was he was doing was interesting from an intellectual level, but I HATED his bloody voice! Quentin Crisp gone wrong!

I love the voice; it fit the character! Now, if Bono talked like that all the time, I'd be much less enthusiastic... but for the character I thought it worked.

Stroke of genius. Too bad most people look at him and go "Wow he looks gay!" :madspit:

I don't have terribly extensive knowledge of Macphisto, but I can't imagine any other rock star pulling off such an act as Bono did with Macphisto.
Coldplay seems to be compared to U2 alot these days -- Can you imagine Chris Martin painting his face white(r), stepping into flashy/trashy gold boots and pulling out a pair of Devil Horns?

(Don't read this as me having something against Coldplay, I just don't think that Macphisto could have come from anywhere but Bono)
