If anyone else is interested in the progress of the injunction U2's lawyers filed against the Sunday Mirror, the London Sunday Times ran a story today about it. Sorry, I don't yet have enough posts here to provide a link, but the story is available at times.co.uk, as well as atu2.com and some other U2 sites.
Essentially, what has now happened is that the Mirror has decided to challenge the injunction, claiming that the details they reported were 'public domain' (!) and thus not protected by Irish privacy laws. This means a potentially precedent-setting legal battle could be taking shape over just how much freedom Irish tabloids enjoy from the new Data Protection Act (to which U2's lawyers appealed when filing the injunction).
Whatever the outcome, it can't redeem the invasion of privacy that's already occurred, but a finding in U2's favor could definitely help discourage more such egregious violations in the future.
