from nick,

why don't they release a live cd box set similar to springsteen, 3 cds with songs from all eras, this would make sense since they probably won't ever put out on full length show on cd, think about it, 40 to 45 songs with of course a bonus cd, i would love to have one tree hill from this tour and so many others,

from nick,

yes, i know he said that, but for a band as big as they are, what the heck, i mean live dvds are great, don't get me wrong, and yes a lot of people know how to rip the audio to cd, but c'mon, a live box set would be great, instead of u2 18, they should have done the live thing, it would have been much more interesting

Yes! But with so much official live stuff out there (B Sides, fan club exclusives, Rattle & Hum and Under A Blood Red Sky, the iTunes concerts from 81 & 89) whe'd probably just get that stuff collected in one place.

They are actually putting out a full length show on CD, ZooTV Sydney, for re-upping on U2.com. I know, meh.

But I get what you're saying. It'd be really cool to do some kind of fan voting. People could submit their choices to a thread on U2.com or something, then the songs with the most common votes could be made available as clips and then vote for the best 45 or so. Such a giganto undertaking, no way it'll ever happen.

Another cool thing would be a 5 disk set from each of the eras and devote the best performances on each disk from concerts, festivals like Live Aid, and TV appearances:

Disk 1: Pre-Boy, Boy & October tours
Disk 2: War, The Unforgettable Fire & Conspiracy Of Hope tours
Disk 3: The Joshua Tree & Lovetown tours
Disk 4: ZooTV, Zooropa/Zoomerang & Popmart tours
Disk 5 Elvation & Vertigo tours

Of course, you may as well wish to have them hand delivered by the band themselves who then play a short set in your house of your own personally selected tracks; about as likely.

I'd love to have something like this.

I would prefer all the albums remastered... new mixed up. After listening to the new Beatles CD that`s I can`t stop thinking about that.
Or what also be cool - to make a greatest hits with new recording of all the older tracks - some bands already did that - I think Simply Red did that.

Plus COUNTLESS TV shows 1978 onwards

from gareth,

if they do put out a live box set it really needs to be Joshua Tree/Lovetown era or before. actually, Boy-War era is all that will do. sorry

It'll all come out in time. Long after they cease to exist, U2, Inc. will keep rolling into perpetuity, probably delivering a bombshell every holiday season until the second coming. Start a bank account now!

I can't listen to their studio stuff anymore. LIVE is my drug so yes I'd love a live cd box set.

But can you imagine the bitching in here about the choice of material????

Totally. They're big enough now and have so many fans, its become completely impossible to make any but the most pragmatic and die hard (or the most casual) fans happy.

They should make an extremely overprice box set full of live songs the hardcore fans already have, put it on iTunes, and make it impossible to download individually.

So cynical. :tsk:

I've often wondered what these "hot cakes" are exactly. Are they some sort of incredible pancake? They must sell out in my area before I get a chance to see them.
