Inferior sound on singles?
Yesterday I was listening to my CD-singles of "Please" and "If God Will Send His Angels," and something occurred to me -- not for the first time, either. Obviously the single versions of these songs are different than the album versions ("Please" has a string arrangement, "IGWSHA" has its second verse chopped and a new ending tacked on, etc.), which is okay. What *isn't* so okay is the relatively poor sound quality. The POP versions of the songs sound much clearer. The single versions, incomparison, are bass-heavy, even muffled. Is there some reason that singles should have poorer sound than albums? Is this intentional? Has anyone else noticed this? Am I crazy?

Inferior? I dunno, I think the single version of "Please" sounds a little more bass heavy. Either way, I find it far superior to the album cut.
