Just a thought. If only they had stuck with a one word formula, maybe their discography would look like this:

1. Boy
2. October
3. War
4. Fire
5. Heartland
6. Lovetown
7. Achtung
8. Zooropa
9. Pop
10.Elevation
11.Vertigo
/Solar

The songs Heartland and Fire wouldn't be from the albums of the same name. Just like Zeppelin's Houses of The Holy.

Look how neat it looks compared to:

1. Boy
2. October
3. War
4. The Unforgettable Fire
5. The Joshua Tree
6. Rattle and Hum
7. Achtung Baby
8. Zooropa
9. Pop
10. All That You Can't Leave Behind
11. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

All That You Can't Dismantle A Moment You Still Haven't Found On Your Own

At least they're not like Bright Eyes...

-Fevers & Mirrors
-Every Day and Every Night
-letting off the Happiness
-Digital Ashes in a Digital Urn
-I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
-There is No Beginning to the Story
-Lifted or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground

Yeah, I do prefer shorter titles, 'cause they're easier to type! :p But I wouldn't change U2's album titles, except perhaps the last two which are way too bloody long. But despite being long they are badass titles. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is such a great album title.

What would be better if each album title was one word, all making up a sentence..

Then there's be umpteen threads on here with us guessing what the next word was going to be.

(bit boring for the short words, ie A and The, I admit)

but without 6 word titles we'd never have the abbreviations we all love so much....

Amen to that. That's become one of my pet peeves...it's really dumb to get annoyed by stupid things...I guess we all have a little Seinfeld in us.
