I'd be surprised if my friends (14-15) knew more than three U2 songs. They'd know Vertigo, possibly Beautiful Day, maybe Elevation, maybe Sometimes and ISHFWILF (but they wouldn't know its by U2).
You and I are about the same age in the same part of the world, right? (I'm 18) I grew up with this general expectation people were well aware of U2's back catalogue. I mean, when I was seven, I looked forward to hearing Sunday Bloody Sunday on the radio; when I was eleven, New Year's Day and When Love Comes To Town were regulars on the radio, and I knew who they were by. Anyone else I asked knew too. Many people in my grade owned U2 CDs or live footage just as a matter of course because "it's U2!"
It genuinely surprises me when I meet people in their teens who do not know U2, Bono, the JT Holy Trinity, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, One, Mysterious Ways, the ATYCLB hits, etc.
