I really like FAST CARS

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Fast Cars and Mecy give me hope that U2 still have passion to create songs other than Vertigo and All Because of You.

honestly, fast cars is alright...nothing too special...xanex and wine is far superior, imo...but even that is only good, not great

agreed ... i prefer it over the other 4 singles theyve put out anyway... it was the song that excited me most from the album (well the uk version anyway)... & i really did like the south-asian/middle eastern sounding influence on it

It's funny, the whole song is really a play on modern life and technology...

'I got CC-TV, pornography, CNBC
I got the nightly news to get to know the enemy'

And the phrase 'they're in the desert to dismantle an atomic bomb' always gets me. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just the way the lyric rolls off Bono's tongue, or the obscurity of the scene.

But you'd think that the lyric that generated the name of the album wouldn't be a bonus track? After all, All That You Can't Leave Behind was in Walk On. What gives?
