Some great stuff already mentioned...but surprisingly no Rolling Stones.
Beggar's Banquet, Sticky Fingers and Some Girls for starters.

Thought someone had already mentioned the Rolling Stones or I would have. They are great

If you want a real rock album, take it from Keith Richards himself, who said this one is one of his top five favs:

******** AC/DC 'Powerage.' **********

The aforementioned 'DC albums are good, but this one has the most variety.
Where HTH and Back in Black, each, are one continuous sounding song.

Stone Roses - "Second coming" fuckin' rock album!
Stone Roses - "Stone Roses"
Oasis - "Definitly Maybe"

Great albums

Stone Roses I totally forgot about them. Definitely Tommy from the Who and any Springsteen.

And thanks for these suggestions. I can't believe i don't have any Bowie or Rolling Stones in my collection. What am I thinking?

How about any suggested Dylan albums?

Bob Dylan covers a lot of territory over the years. Rather than try to dig through every single record he made, pick up a Greatest Hits, or my favorite Essential Bob Dylan which is a two disc set. Has all the greats like Tangled Up In Blue, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Lay Lady Lay, It Ain't Me Babe, Blowin in the Wind, etc. etc. and pretty much chronicles his music career by picking out key songs that shaped his long-standing endurance as a musician. That would be a great start getting your feet wet in the Bob Dylan category.

Keep on keepin on
