Holy Trinities

Ultra Violet-Acrobat-Love is Blindness is THE HOLY TRINITY. No other. And yes, it is much more sacred to me than the opening of JT(never been a fan of Still Haven't Found).

Streets, Still Haven't Found, With or With Out You,
Walk On, Kite, In a Little While,
EBTTRT, One, Until the end of the world,
Vertigo, Miracle Drug, Sometimes

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For -> Spanish Eyes -> Deep In The Heart.

Indeed, 'tis a fine trilogy. In fact, it's SO good that back in '87, when "Bullet..." came on, it ruined the mood for me, so I would turn off JT! It took me some time to finally get to the latter songs on the album.

Besides that trilogy, I have a new favorite:
Love&Peace, CoBL, ABoY

THE BEST = Where the Streets Have No Name / Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / With or Without You

Other good'uns

- Ultraviolet / Acrobat / Love is Blindness

- An Cat Dubh / Into the Heart / Out of Control.

The FIRST one is THE HOLY Trinity. I was actually listening to the Joshua Tree for the first time in AGES and the first thing I noticed was the way those first three tracks flows is fantastic!

Those last two 'trinities' are just there because I rarely hear those tracks in any other order! Partly because I don't like just listening to individual tracks, and prefer albums start to finish...

I still wish someone would explain how UV --> Acrobat --> LIB is a holy trinity when UV and Acrobat are so dissimilar they should never have been placed within two songs of each other. UV should've been before Mysterious Ways.

I'll rank in order:

1.Streets/Still Haven't/WOWY
2.One/UTEOTW/WGRYWH
3.If You Wear/Please/WUDM
4.Disco/DYFL/Mofo
5.NYD/Like A Song/Drowning Man
6.Fire/Tomorrow/October
7.Vertigo/MD/Sometimes

there's a whole story told right there

Except you forgot a song...MW is in between The Fly and Tryin'.

I'm going to take what you just said along other things I've heard you say about AB and see if I can correctly guess your ideal tracklisting for AB. I'm bored. Humor me.

Zoo Station
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Until The End Of The World
The Fly
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
So Cruel
Ultraviolet
Mysterious Ways
One
Acrobat
Love Is Blindness

Am I close?

Zoo Station
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Until The End Of The World
The Fly
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
So Cruel
Ultraviolet
Mysterious Ways
One
Acrobat
Love Is Blindness

Am I close?

Well, here's one I made recently:

1. Zoo Station
2. Acrobat
3. Until The End Of The World
4. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
5. One
6. Love Is Blindness
7. Ultra Violet
8. Even Better Than The Real Thing
9. The Fly
10. Mysterious Ways
11. Where Did It All Go Wrong?

And here's one I made using all the songs from the Zoo era, excluding covers:

1. Zoo Station
2. Acrobat
3. Until The End Of The World
4. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
5. So Cruel
6. One
7. Love Is Blindness
8. Alex Descends Into Hell
9. The Fly
10. Even Better Than The Real Thing
11. Mysterious Ways
12. Salome
13. Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World
14. Ultra Violet
15. Lady With The Spinning Head
16. Where Did It All Go Wrong?

But if I have to stick with the 12 originally on AB, I'd do:

1. Zoo Station
2. Acrobat
3. Until The End Of The World
[I love that opening three]
4. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
5. So Cruel
6. One
7. Ultra Violet
8. Mysterious Ways
9. Even Better Than The Real Thing
10. The Fly
11. Love Is Blindness

And I honestly can't think of where to put TTTYAATW. As a b-side somewhere, I guess. Maybe after Wild Horses. I quite like the one you made too, though I'd swap UTEOTW and The Fly to retain UTEOTW --> WGRYWH.

I know this doesn't quite fit the theme going...but the live trio of
Sunday Bloody Sunday --> Wake Up Dead Man --> Stuck in a Moment

That is truly amazing.

yeah, you're right.
must be subconscious - i can't really tolerate mysterious ways there, messes with my flow.
anyway, those three songs (so cruel>the fly>tryin') sound great together.

There is only one Holy Quadnity, and its name is The Unforgettable Fire, Promenade, 4th Of July, Bad.

You said that Uv-Acrobat-Love is blindness isn't cohesive or whatever.
If we're talking about cohesiveness, then
1.Promenade-4thof July-Bad
2.Discoteque-DYFL-Mofo

First three songs on JT.

Also - I know, one song is in between - but I also like Stuck/Walk on/Kite and Miracle Drug/Sometimes/City.

I cannot believe nobody has mentioned RnH ??

the Sun Studio Trilogy

Angel of Harlem-> Love Rescue Me -> When love comes to town

( LoveTown -. Heartland -> God ptII
would've been nice, but they are on different sides of the second LP, even on a CD you can feel this.)
