This took me about two hours to do. I took the Pimm Jal De La Parra book and made a list of supporting acts since the 11 O'Clock Tick Tock Tour. I did not however, write in dates of the supporting acts (as I am too lazy for that) and instead indicated how many shows the act appeared in. The amount of shows does not begin until the War Tour, due to the fact of the choppiness in the book till the end of the Pre-War Tour on support acts.

This was just because I was bored. I hope some of you enjoy this.

The file is in Word format. Hopefully it can be read. If not, let me know and I'll just copy and paste.

EDIT : I figured I'd just go ahead and do a copy and paste for those who don't want to download the file.

can't believe they had smashmouth open on popmart.

I remember seeing Cast at Roundhay Park 1997 and before, I thought they were crap but when seeing them they were pretty good in the rain that day. Also remember The Pretenders and The Mission at Elland Road 1987, ahhhhh my first U2 concert, the memories.

Really cool! thanks for putting that together!!
U2've had some famn fine support over their careers... aaand some questionable support as well.

One correction.. I think Longpips should be Longpigs, no?

all time best opening band (for U2)...

Pixies- what a show- two of my favorite bands. I still remember so vividly Black Francis screaming the end of Monkey Gone to Heaven. I was 15 and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. That lasted for about 45 minutes, b/c then zoo station was the coolest thing i had ever seen.

Proud to say I was at the only concert that Graham Parker & The Figgs opened for u2. It was at the Baltimore show, never heard of them in my life but Garbage dropped out and they needed a local band. They actually are a good band, I remember the lead singer thanking u2 for the opportunity, they got the call like two hours before and after they finished, he said they had to play another gig right after.

I've never heard of most of the bands on that list. I'm amazed to see that The Ramones opened for them twice, though.

I highly doubt that Sonic Youth will open for them. They are kind of a underground band which don't like the commercial aspect of U2.
ZooTV had by far the best supporting acts. Two of my favorite bands excluding U2 - Pearl Jam and Pixies.

The best supporting acts that I have seen for U2 were probebly
Garbage and Bo Deans. Bo Deans were perfect for the Joshua Tree tour IMO. Pick up their live album Joe Dirt Car and you will see what I mean.

Most interesting opening act I saw was Public Enemy. It was like being at a different show. Not into rap to much, but it was interesting and it kept my interest. The KKK effigy on a noose was an interesting touch! Rage Against the Machine was also interesting. They were pretty good but just didnt seem to fit a U2 show to me.

Worst I saw without a doubt was Smashmouth. Just AWFUL!
