i have decided, since u2 doesnt have a box set out, that i am going to creat my own personal one for right now. 4 discs, and i was wondering if everyone could help me design the best setlists for them. any suggestions please help.

Well, since the Best Of is about to be released I'm sure a Box Set isnt coming anytime in the near future. I think they'll write 2 or 3 more albums and then think about it. At that point, I would divide the set into 4 discs...
Disc 1 - Boy, October, War
Disc 2 - UFire, JT, R&H
Disc 3 - Achtung, Zooropa, Pop
Disc 4 - ATYCLB, album 11(HQ???). album 12 :)drool: )

Of course there would be a mix of A sides and B sides with preference of course on the former.

So there! :)

I like your disc ideas, cept I think on disc 4 he should put stuff from Million Dollar Hotel, Ground Beneath Her Feet, ATYCLB, Hands That Built America, and Electrical Storm, Since he is planning this now right?

I can give you my four-disc tracklisting, since I made one. These are chronological for the sake of a continuous listening experience. This is fairly close ot my original tracklisting, but the two most recent songs have been added, as well as the new mix of Gone in place of a live version. This is strictly based on MY preferences.

Boy-October-War Era: ( I may have had Electric Co. on, don't recall)

11 O'Clock Tick Tock
I Will Follow
Out of Control
A Day Without Me
Another Time, Another Place
Stories for Boys
Gloria
I Threw a Brick Through a Window
Fire
Tomorrow
October
A Celebration
Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year's Day
Like a Song
Two Hearts Beat as One
Surrender
40

Unforgettable Fire- Joshua Tree- Rattle and Hum Era

A Sort of Homecoming (live)
Pride
The Unforgettable Fire
Bad
MLK
Where the Streets Have no Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With or Without You
Bullet the Blue Sky
In God's Country
One Tree Hill
Spanish Eyes
Sweetest Thing (original)
Desire
Angel of Harlem
When Love Comes to Town
God Part II
All I Want is You

Achtung Baby-Zooropa-Pop Era

Even Better Than the Real Thing
One
Until the End of the World
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (Temple Bar Edit)
The Fly
Mysterious Wyas
Numb (original)
Lemon
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
The First Time
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
Discotheque (original mix)
If God Will Send His Angels (single version)
Staring at the Sun (original mix)
Gone (new mix)
Please (single version)
North and South of the River

All That You Can't Leave Behind- Million Dollar Hotel- Passengers- Other

Night and Day
Beautiful Day
Stuck in a Moment
Elevation (Tomb Raider mix)
Walk On (Hallelujah mix)
Kite
New York
Electrical Storm
The Hands That Built America
Your Blue Room
Miss Sarajevo
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Won't Get Fooled Again (live)

I suggest putting the Passengers tracks and "Night and Day" with the Achtung Baby and Zooropa material. Then move Pop with the Million Dollar Hotel and onward (if you're worried about coherency, use the new mixes, since they sit better with the MDH and ATYCLB songs).

Toss "Party Girl" on the first disc while you're at it. :)

I actually did this back in 1999 and was able to fit a lot of good songs onto 4 discs, with the last disc having B-Sides, and commercially released live tracks. With this live CD I was able to seamlessly fade tracks from 1982, with tracks from R&H DVD, PopMart Mexico city, and other faves.

The only problem is, if you are like me, you end up having to ax some songs that you really love just to make them fit onto a CD-R.

So, if I were you, make 5 discs instead of 4 so that you can have plenty to choose from. And trust me, when you really start to go through those albums and pick songs that you'd like to include, you won't have any trouble filling up 5 discs.

Hi RickFly. I've been working on the idea of how a possible box set release may look in the future too, and its still being worked on as i type, but i'll try real hard to get it posted here in the next few days. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but by Christ its a labour of love!!:banghead::help::wink: As a basis i have pretty much a similar format to those posts above, but of course a variation in track layout.

So it should be here soon, and hey if you wait a while longer you'll probably get three at once....!

:D

U2 DOES HAVE A BOX SET OF SINGLES OUT!!!!!!!

I bought it in college and totally forgot about it, but then saw it on Ebay yesterday.

it is called U2 "The singles collection" I think it is from 1979-1989

It is all the singles they released up to that date.

It is a black box with gray "U2" letters on it...

Well thats it. In case u r wondering, certain tracks are in certain places because they improve the flow of how the disc would sound when listened to all the way through. Of course some tracks are just there cos they are MY preferences. :D I appreciate its probably not that easy to obtain all the above songs, but this is just my hope of what a U2 boxset might be like.

Bye for now.

what live versions of what songs should be on the box set? i am making the setlists and trying to see what songs would sound good with each other?
i have recently rediscovered "wire" and also what pics should i use for the cover art?
