Goldeneye!?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

You can tell, too. The first time I heard that song, I didn't realize what it was right away. So, I'm sitting there listening and thinking, "Man, this really sounds like a U2 song." Then Tina sang the refrain and I realized that it was (more or less) a U2 song.

Either I listen to too much U2 (very possible) or they have a more distinct sound then I realized (also possible.)

I have that single...*runs and grabs it*

"Goldeneye"

Written by Bono & The Edge
Mixed and Produced by Nellee Hooper
Executive Producers Bono & The Edge

I'd like to hear U2 perform Goldeneye in concert someday.
Bruce Springsteen has written his share of music for others ("Fire", "Because The Night", Light of Day" for example) which he ends up sooner or later playing live himself, and his versions tend to be better than the others. I think U2 could do wonders with Goldeneye live.

Have any of you heard 'Conversations on a Barstool' written by Bono and Edge? It's perhaps the most amazing piece of music that either Edge or Bono have ever written. In fact, it's hard to believe that they wrote it - and that's saying a LOT!

Here are the lyrics. I can't remember who sings it:

Conversations on a Barstool

(from the "Short Cuts" soundtrack)

I'm tired, so tired I can hardly stand
I can't breath in the air in this city tonight
It's taken everything I had to give
and now, I just want to get out of here

But I won't be sorry if you won't be
And I don't want your pity or sympathy
But for 45 dollars I can make it
You wait and see

He came from Miami to start out again
I hear that he's back with his mother ill
He told me he loved me and he wanted my child
But you know people change their minds

But I won't sorry if you won't be
And I don't want your pity or sympathy
But for 45 dollars I can make it
You wait and see

It isn't as if I was just anybody
On Broadway I danced for that senator
They know me in London and they know me in Paris
I'm only talking because you look like you needed a friend

But I won't sorry if you won't be
And I don't want your pity or your sympathy
But with 45 dollars I'm halfway
To Miami

Skeek, you really must hear it! It's up there with October (the song) as one of Bono/Edge's real "holy shit" moments, if you know what I mean.
