Must be because Larry still looks so young.

Still, I thought there were quite a few positive comments, they just weren't as funny as the negative ones.

Again, I'll give my Bio.. I'm a conservative fan, and I liked the performance, I didn't find anything offensive, cuz it wasn't any sort of political performance, Yah.. Bono's views. depending on where you stand in the spectrum, and how far you 'quasically' shove your head up his ass, make you either give the thumbs up, or raise a big middle finger, And, sadly to say, that's what those kids in that post were replying to.. the Political views, not the music..

You're a conservative? You poor, poor pathetic thing you. Here, let me give you a warm bowl of soup and a blankie.

In that short performance, I don't see how politics could really enter into the picture. Was it listing the names of victims of 9/11? U2 have been doing that in concert for a while now and each time people talk about how emotional it is. Few bands could have pulled that off. Imagine Limp Bizkit doing that?

Because I agree with Bono's views, I am highly offended by your suggestion that I have my "head up his ass." But I'd rather have my head there than have me noggin' buried up some conservative's behind, like Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure you are enjoying the view though.

The performance to me was just O.K. Bono's voice - a critical component to U2's sound - was "broken." It seems that winters in the U.S. are very harsh to his vocals (recall the SNL performance in December 2000). I guess it's the dry air. Either way, he needs some time for his voice to recover. Still at least this proved that U2 didn't lip-synch like every other artist that night. And the songs gave one hope. As I read those names while listening to "Streets..." I felt a sensation of U2 telling me not to cry for those lost, but to celebrate their lives. And that is a far more powerful message.

So if U2's/Bono's views in that 10 minute performance were far too liberal for some, then I guess I will simply never understand the conservative views - THANK GOD!

Dr. Gonz, and your significant other, I never ever am insulting you, This is a celebration of your love that you two so dearly posted for all of us to bask in a couple of weeks ago, We're lifting up the sky, This is Great news... It just happens, that by posting such news, it will be referenced.. That's just how things go in the world.. Anyways, I have gotten my kick off that, On to bigger and Better Things, just keep your bedroom details out of this forum please.. (No.. that statement is not a stretch...)

Dr. Who.. I'm not so sure why you rankled your small intestines out over a comment, that I didn't directly aim at you, As a fellow Domer, allow me to explain, 'Head up the Ass', means those people out there, and there are some in this forum, who believe in something 'Just Cuz U2 believes in it'... Almost a blind following,.. Apparently it hit a little too close to home. You fire back with Rush Limbaugh, You should have done a bit more research, No where have I ever proclaimed Rush is Gospel because he simply is Rush... What I do reference, and post are articles, with evidence that support things that are generally on target... But that argument was just had over in FYM.. so i'll stop that here..

And you don't get yourself anywheres by posting a 'Smiley' Face in your .. well post.. It kinda negates the words you are using... as if the internet Thesaurus has run out of adverbs.. Those are things One expects out of teenage girls using AOL IM in their 88 line INFO Boxes.. Though I know it's frequent on this forum.. There is another thread to debate this .. as it has been done before

The SNL performances of Beautiful Day & Elevation are my favorite live versions of those tunes. I love Bono's voice at the end of BD with the All You Need Is Love ending, I thought he sounded fantastic. Oh well, you say tomato I say...tomato. I guess that doesn't really work on paper...

pseudo-intellectual lesbians or the hoplophobic. Why cant I be both huh? Hoplophobia sounds really cool.

I like U2, even though Bono is a liberal
crass commercialism and conspicuous consumption. Can she say alliteration? Can she write a sentance that makes sense? Guess some people dont try and overcome their stupidity.

Dork!

Indeed.

Hey, just because some of those people are "right wing" doesn't mean that all right-wingers think that way. I object to your thread title "go read what the right wing has to say". There are many conservative U2 fans who really enjoyed the performance, such as myself. That small group of people in no way represents the right wing as a whole.

I totally agree. I am a conservative and do not agree with those people. I have been a U2 fan for 20 years and will be for 20 more. I do not agree with all or even most of Bono's politics but I do have the upmost respect for him and his views I just don't agree as I said with most of them. Does that make me a bad person or Bono a bad person NO. To just point out "Right Wing" is wrong how do you know some of those post weren't from the "Left wing" After all someone had to go to the site to find the post and the person who brought it to our attention called it Right Wing so why was he there in the first place if he is so LEFT?

U2's performance at the SB was in poor taste, the whole superbowl was just too cheap and tacky to accomodate them, U2 are more famous than american football can ever hope to be. and i agree about banning U2 from playing the US for a while.

Free Republic is a right wing website and it has got to be said that a lot of other forums in that place also make me wonder if these people should be voting in the democratic process. The comments made by some of the posters in there would have the women of the US, living like women under the Taliban......equal rights, whats that?

isn't that what you did? it doesn't matter whether or not you think you did. we were insulted. and referring to us in your original post had nothing to do with anything.

first of all, that post wasn't even made in this forum. it was posted in lemonade stand, which is an off-topic forum. and bedroom details? i don't remember us banging each other in the forum or anything. if you're referring to my "from" line...then you have problems. loads of people in the forum have from lines like this, referring to being in someone's bed, pants, whatevah. it's intended as a joke.

making reference to past history is no problem. but as any english professor will tell you, when making reference to or quoting material, you must make sure it is relevent to your point. so either you post was irrelevent, or if you were trying to imply something, then it was an ad hominem comment. either way you were wrong to make such a comment.

look, whatever your problem is with gonzo and me, you really shouldn't let it affect you to such a point that you feel the need to bring it up with it's entirely unneccessary. i can only assume your problem with gonzo is that you don't see eye to eye with him on political views (which if that is the problem, maybe you should only post where people feel the exact same way as you so as to further avoid this problem), and with me...i can only assume it's because i'm his girlfriend. all i can say is, grow up.
