So, uh, LemonMelon...I could uh, you know

forgive you for this whole situation with Chass if you were to...ya know

bono_212@hotmail.com :sexywink:

As far as b-sides go, I made a playlist on my iPod of all the music by U2 that's either b-sides or unreleased, etc. and I have to say...it's almost sad how much stuff got passed up to be on albums, compared to what MADE it to the albums :sigh:

Oh so what, you're asking HIM for it?! When clearly I have it. But nooo, you're asking him instead of me. Now I see how important I am to you

LemonMelon, don't bother sending it to her. I just did

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the threads of our lives... *soap opera theme music plays*

Well YOU didn't take the hint the 20 times you've brought it up to me how much you hate the song that I might like to hear it before I pass judgment :madspit:

I have a collection of U2 b-sides that I pop in once a month or so and completely drool over. It's just so...wow. It's mostly stuff from the Complete U2, but it has some other odds and ends also:

1. All Because Of You (Alternate)
2. Are You Gonna Wait Forever?
3. Ave Maria
4. Beautiful Ghost
5. Fast Cars
6. Flower Child
7. Jesus Christ
8. Levitate
9. Love You Like Mad
10. Mercy
11. Native Son
12. Neon Lights
13. Smile
14. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (Alternate)
15. Stateless
16. Xanax And Wine
17. Yahweh (Alternate)

:cute: It's one of my favorite U2 albums now.

I've just been looking for the Yahweh (Alternate) can you send it to me?

The Kinks, around 1968.

While I can see the influence, that's obvious but to say U2 are being a cover band is a little much... but then again considering the original poster of that line it isn't suprising.

I ADORE this song. I don't just like it...I think that leaving this song as a mere demo was a horrible mistake; if it would have made it onto ATYCLB, it would have had to battle with Beautiful Day as my favorite on the album. Let's examine it:

1. Great lyrics.

On the fifth day of may, she was breaking away
When the moon came and sat on your shoulder
She was still young, not yet highly strung
As you need to be when you get older

What's on your breath is the fear of death
That makes such a man promiscuous
Your mouth was dry like when you were about to lie
And her lips are so luscious
You've seen it before, you hurled at her door
Like a dog when she needed a man
Now she aches and she breaks, and she takes
On the weight of your world, 'cause she almost can

   Really good stuff. Not necessarily genius, but it's sweet, simple and natural.

2. It's refreshingly experimental. Think about it...how many other U2 songs sound exactly like this? 2 or 3? (Wild Honey and Summer Rain are the only examples that come to mind for me) If U2 seriously wants to take on the Beatles' sound, this is the way they should go about it.

3. It features Bono's "rough" vocal sound done correctly. No missed notes, very natural, laid back and fun.

4. Awesome production. It's very clean and warm...some nice little sonic tricks are thrown in here and there to liven up the track as well.

So yeah...this demo rocks.

Hi I would love to hear this song also...

Jeannieco@aol.com

Thank you :)

You know what to do *wink*

Anyways, yeah I like this song. Not the sound of it so much, but it's still really cool. Way better than Wild Honey. And the lyricsa are really cool. WAY better than just about everything from Atomic Bomb.

Could I possibly request Tracks 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17?

I got AYGWF off iTunes the other day. Awesome song.

i absolutley love this song, next to a couple others, it ties for my favortie. every time that i hear it, it amazes me that t never made it onto ATYCLB. if you havent heard it before, get it. but i think that you made some mistakes in the lyrics, its WEEDKILLER not WEAK, which i think refers to ali and bono as he has refered to her numerous tumes as sugar in songs, GROWING not GROW, and most importantly APPIAN not ALBION way. i love this song, its a good song about parents eventually having to let go of their children and growing up.
 please dont be too hard on me i'm new :)

oh and it goes,
"here comes holy joe
now how would he know
how laughter can make a man cruel
when its fire on fire and lovers
conspire
to either a duet or duel
when its fire on fire
the flames just get higher
the harder you work to put them out
well you know that your similar
sugar and weedkiller
in a boat heading north facing
south."
