Does anyone know what the sounds at the beginning of UTEOTW is?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

get the "The Eyes of Truth" by enigma and listen at about 3:25 into the song and you will hear that sound. I know they took it from U2 but it actually sounds awsome in the whole mood of this song! I recomend this song if you like instrumental songs!

Put simply, I read that it is a soundbite of Bono shouting 'Love' being played by Edge as SFX on his guitar.

Yes.

Which makes it the coolest idea and coolest sound ever known to the human ear.

..

...or any ear for that matter.

Actually, if you pay right attention, it isn't so hard to understand that it's Bono singing "LOVE LOOOOOOOOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE" through a voice processor

I totally didn't know that! ya learn something everyday.

so is it like the best sound to ever be heard by mere mortals or what?

Better than Achtung??
No, after conducting a wide-spreaded investigation, i came to a conclusion that there is no such thing

I thought the UTEOTW sound may have been a Vocoder using a guitar [plus effects] for the modulator signal as opposed to a synth like most vocoders. An example of this is Frampton's "Do You Feel".

there's my two cents!

Bono was asked once in an interview and said it's their secret but did tell it was his voice/Edge's guitar put through effects.

I always thought it was just Bono roaring away.
