I'm with you. I originally thought the studio version was amazing (and it still is, on its own merits), but I have about 20 live versions that I prefer to the original. It just doesn't compare.

I think I am gonna have to go with New Year's Day. I once had an obsession with that song and now it is one I usually skip over. That and Vertigo is becoming that way for me as well.

The Unforgettable Fire...that song always makes me sad for some reason. But I've never been huge on it.

There are some songs that haven't declined for me, just my love for other songs has (at least at the moment) far surpassed my love for those songs.

Declining: a lot of the stuff on bomb that I used to love - SYCMIOYO, Crumbs, Miracle Drug.

Oh well, I'm kind of going through a 90s phase anyway.

Well I wouldn't say declinging. Maybe you all need to take a rest from U2 for a bit and then when you go back to it, it will seem new, clean, "Fresh"

Having read thro this thread, i wonder what the odds are that the songs listed by people on here will fall back into favour at some point? I have found that to be true for me so many times over the years.

True

Quite often after i've come on here and mention how i'm not a fan of a song (or album) i end up getting hooked.

New Year's Day and The Unforgettable Fire album spring to mind.

Streets - the beginning still gives me chills but I find the rest of the song pretty blah.

About half of Zooropa tracks sound pretty average to me once the novelty of U2 sounding different wore off.

Bounce is awesome for declinging, and it's got a "Fresh" scent too. Although it does nothing for U2 album/song freshness, even after letting it rest for a bit. Thanks for the advice though.

Sorry, off topic.

What was the topic? Oh yeah, opinions about which U2 songs haven't aged well: New Year's Day jumps to mind. But then again that could be because my local "classic rock" station plays it all the time.
