Clintons 'will not attend Google wedding'
-Times Online
-December 7, 2007
Hillary Clinton has denied reports that she and her husband were to attend the wedding of Larry Page, the Google co-founder, tomorrow.
Hillary Clinton said today that she would not be attending the wedding of Larry Page, the Google co-founder, in the Caribbean tomorrow.
Ms Clinton, the Democratic Presidential hopeful, was responding to a report on Times Online yesterday which said that she and her husband Bill were expected to fly in for the event, taking place on Necker Island, a private island owned by Sir Richard Branson.
Phil Singer, a campaign spokesman for Mrs Clinton, said: "This report is inaccurate. She will be in Iowa, and neither her nor President Clinton will be attending such an event."
Mr Page, who is 34 and worth an estimated $18.5 million, is to marry his fiance, Lucy Southworth, on Necker Island, a 74-acre enclave in the British Virgin Islands that was bought by the Virgin entrepreneur in the 1970s.
Among the 600 guests expected to be flown to the island - which costs $48,000 a night to hire - to attend is Bono, the U2 front man.
