you may take this as a joke

or in jest, but i swear on truth™

that i am serious.

bono's first legged one campaign speeches >>>>>>> his third leg speeches.

for one,
they are about 1-2 minutes less in duration. 1-2 minutes, of a longer mysterious ways or one, or whatever.

for B,
it was just a better speech.
talking of JFK
and leading, not following
and the man on the moon
and stuff.

i found it to be much better.

the third leg
he was just focused on painting the picture of the milky way
with the cell phones

we did that in the first leg, but with a better, more concise and better speech.

truth.™ do you truth?

I'm guessing most people here will agree with you that shorter = better when it comes to Bono speeches

the best speeches involve unicorns

the miracle drug speeches
were quite good.

shorter speech
and a funny little joke ,about edge being from the future from a different planet. (third leg.)

talking of the boy that miracle drug
was written for, is somewhat inspiring.
as he typed as if he were a unicorn to write his books.

also 5/28, bono speaks of faith in medicine/God/scientists and how medicine and God can coexist.

it was pretty cool, shoutouts to Doctors and medics, etc.

I do not believe Bono ever gave a speech involving a Unicron and planet digestion.

Please let me know of your favorite Bono Vertigo tour speech.

Those speeches were pretty baller...but the Chicago DVD one was meh. Miles Davis blah blah blah... seemed to go on too long. But I love the shoutout to doctors and nurses.

i agree with the original post. Bono has a tendancy to ramble, but when he makes a concise speech, they are usually very powerful

one of his better ones,
was when he actually had a speech to give.

God is under the rubble and the cries we hear during wartime
God my friends is with the poor
and God is with us if we are with them

it would have been cool
if he said that at some point
during the u2 show
instead of rambling often as he did.

he rambled, but it did not
to me interrupt the flow of any of the shows (a lot.) that i attended.

the chicago dvd one
is odd

listen to the 5/28 one for Miracle Drug

that is truth.™

i think that
bonos fifth leg speeches were the
best

because they didnt last more
than two
minutes for
the most

part

.

incorrect
my amigo

the brisbane speech is closer to four minutes. he says "Wow, thats crazy" and rambles for about 3-3:30 minutes
forwards.

but i agree
the 5th leg ones
were better.

i am also not talking about
length
but also content of the speech

3rd, 5th leg are just talking about the power of cell phones.

1st leg, he painted a better picture.

discuss?

cell

phones have a lot of power
im sure you could
light up a football stadium
if necessary
with 40,000 of them

by the
time the
speeches made it to
auckland
they
were
much
shorter
and he made his point
more succin
ctly without needing to ramble
on.

and your thoughts
on the
content please?

if you want to help africa
if you think its crazy that etc etc
use your powerful cellphone to get contact with make
poverty
history

i liked it
it got his message across the
way it should have
been done all tour

eg

stuff happening in africa = bad
you texting this number = good

it relied more on the message sender going to the
make
poverty
history

website and being more proactive after receiving the message
which
imo is better than
lecturing a stadium of
people about why you sign up and you should sign up and the politicians and thank you all politicians

the
whole if you think it
s crazy thing feels less lecturesome (for
want of a better term

)

thank you.
this is the type of
response i was looking for.

i agree
inspiring proactive behavior
is better than a lecture.

inspiration can affect what he wants to have done;
a lecture will not do the same. it could, but it is also more likely to have an adverse
effect.

i also appreciate your
fine
spacing.

and i am being serious in thanking you
for a reply to this thread.

i still prefer leg 1 when he speaks of this generations man on the moon
is the fight in africa.

it's good imagry if nothing else,
especially with all the cell phones "lighting up

the night."

Or they're written by Quentin Tarantino:

Jules: There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd.

^I think you can pay pretty much anything with your cell phone today.

As for Bono's speeches, I am particularly moved by the Miracle Drug speech. There is one where he showed his rosary and talked about meeting the pope and how we can "make God smile" and that "God is a fan of science". I thought this was very special.

i've never understood the part in Bono's one speech where he says they you can pay the gas bill with your cell phone.

how many people here actually do that?

That plus he said you can bet on sports teams with your phone.

I didn't even know such a service existed, unless he's referring to a direct line to the TAB

^Here you can play the lottery, pay for your train ticket or take part in all kinds of games in competitions via cell phone, there are many services. I don't do it because I am quite old-fashioned when it comes to mobile communications, I just don't have the right phone, but I know that a lot of this stuff is possible. So I don't think Bono was just joking.

Try saving THAT planet with a cell phone, Bono.
