Do you want biggest or best? They are not generally the same thing.

I don't give a rats ass about biggest.

Good fill-in, but I dont think The Police carried on much past 1984 - they released Synchronicity in 1983 and called it quits after that tour.

The "Tattoo You" album was pretty big. They sold out the Kingdome in Seattle (65K) in 1981

There were no real standout bands in 2004...couldn't think of anyone else. Seems silly to put U2 in when they released a record right at the end of the year.

I've never heard one Dave Matthews Band song, and I listened to the radio heaps from 1998 to 2002.

And someone actually put Maroon 5? This isn't the 'shittiest band in the world' list. There's a band I would have never known if it weren't for a couple of friends with exceptionally poor taste.

Also, if we're talking biggest in the WORLD for 1992-93, then I have to wonder if anyone can compete with U2 considering their huge ZooTV attendance.

We are talking about 'biggest'. If not Maroon 5, then tell me who was the biggest band in the world in 2004? Maroon 5 were all over the place. I don't care for them, but they were huge.

Duran Duran took a dive in 1984. They were bigger earlier.

Also Michael Jackson was, unfortunately, huge at one point. Not with me, but with others.

It's better to leave 2004 without nothing instead of... Maroon 5...

Allanis Morisette was huge in the 95-96 period. Ridiculously huge. She was one of my first albums...unfourtunetly.

1991 - Daryl Braithwaithe
1992 - Jesus Christ Superstar '92
1993 - The Bodyguard Soundtrack
1994 - Mariah Carey

Surely in this period Crowded House completely cained them both. I mean The Dream has gone 11 time platinum. A lot of sales for SG came in 97 from memory. Maybe I'm wrong... who am I to argue with ARIA...

Do they have a biggest album sales back for 79-86ish?
