U2: Where the Streets Have No Name

U2: Spanish Eyes - I don't really like the song, but I just love the way it starts with Edge's shimmering guitar rising louder and louder.

PJ Harvey: Man-Sized - those distorted guitar chords have a really nasty, dirty power to them.

Aerosmith: Walk This Way - how can anyone be unmoved by that great riff?

Pink Floyd: In the Flesh?, Shine on You Crazy Diamond Part 1

Prodigy - Breathe

There are many great starts to songs but these come to my mind at the moment:

Even better than the real thing - U2
Mofo - U2
Where the Streets have no Name - U2
In the Air tonight - Phil Collins
The Ship Song - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Closer - Nine Inch Nails
To Bring you my love - PJ Harvey
Hey Pretty - Poe
Let It Be - The Beatles
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode

" You love this town - even if that doesn't ring true. You've been all over, and it's been all over you " - Bono

" Don't you know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk " - Tom Waits

I'll point you to an album:

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon.

It has got to be the ultimate theme album, the intro to the opening song including intros to the songs to follow (something like Abbey Road). Anyway I love those beginnings, though not exactly structured as Streets is for example.

I almost forgot - "Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car" ... I love that intro, especially live.
