Sorry that this is kind of like another thread below--it's slightly different. I'm making a double-CD (it might be triple) for a couple of my friends as a Christmas gift-kind of thing, of the best performances of songs. I've got an idea of what I want to put on it--do you have any suggestions/comments to sway me one way or the other on the ones I have multiple choices for? Preferably not on those bootlegs that are absolutely impossible to find. And preferably available on a bootleg with excellent sound quality or a DVD/live EP.

I Will Follow (Elevation Boston June 06/05, Red Rocks)
11 O'Clock Tick Tock (Red Rocks, Elevation Boston June 08)
Out of Control (Slane)
The Electric Co (any opinions on the best version from this tour?)
Gloria
New Year's Day (Slane, ZooTV Dublin)
Sunday Bloody Sunday (Sarajevo)
'40' (Last Prayer at the Foot of the Joshua Tree)
Bad (Wide Awake in America, Live Aid, R&H)
Where the Streets Have No Name (Point Depot 26th, or a Popmart show)
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With or Without You (Rattle and Hum, Rock's Hottest Ticket)
Bullet the Blue Sky (ZooTV Dublin, an especially powerful Elevation show)
Running to Stand Still (ZooTV Dublin)
One Tree Hill (Point Depot 26th)
Exit (Rattle and Hum)
All I Want Is You
Desire
Ultraviolet (ZooTV Dublin)
Zoo Station (Vertigo show)
The Fly (Vertigo show)
One/Unchained Melody (ZooTV Dublin)
Love Is Blindness (ZooTV Dublin)
Stay
Lemon (I REALLY want to put one of the live versions on... just which one?)
Dirty Day (ZooTV Sydney)
Last Night on Earth (Tel Aviv or Mexico City)
Mofo (any Popmart show)
Please (Sarajevo? I don't have the bootleg)
Beautiful Day
Elevation (Vertigo version)
Original of the Species
Vertigo (Boston May 28th, second time)

Obviously this is going to be pared down once I have all the versions I like best, but please add your suggestions!

taht's a really good compilation right there
i haven't heard with or without you from the rattle and hum rock's hottest ticket, but i know that i really like the with or without you from one of the chicago shows on this vertigo tour becuase Bono ends with a snippet of "strangers in the night" =)
for original species, probably the one with patti smith, although i haven't heard all the live versions of htat song. they dont play it too often because it's a special song and "they dont want to f*ck it up" according to Bono ;]
i thikn i'd go with slane castle for beautiful day

A few selections:

I Will Follow: 13 December 1981 is my favourite, it's great.
11 O'clock Tick Tock: either 4 November 1981, Berlin (filmed for TV, great quality, 3 solos!) or 5 June 1983 (the one on the Red Rocks video)
The Electric Co.: 20 September 2005, Chicago is absolutely amazing
Bad: RAH! Mindblowing.
WOWY: I'd take 29 April 1987, Chicago (Rock's Hottest Ticket)
Mofo and Please: Popmart Sarajevo (great show for Discotheque and One too)
Exit: 29 April 1987, Chicago, though the ones with the Riders On The Storm snippet are amazing too

And don't stray from 26 December 1989 for Streets and One Tree Hill. Definitive performances right there.
