Beautiful Ghost with modern dub-over?
I know that Beautiful Ghost is from the JT sessions, and that it was one of the songs to be on the proposed double album. Listening to the instrumental portion, I don't doubt that at all. Bono's vocal on it, however, has always left me a bit bewildered. To me, it really sounds like modern-day Bono. It sounds like there's a little too much scratch in that voice, and the way he hits the high notes at the end sounds to me more like modern Bono's high notes than the way he hit them at 26. It's led me to wonder---is Bono's vocal part a modern dub over top of what was originally an instrumental track, or perhaps a re-dub of something that had been there before?

The lyrics are a poem by William Blake, "Songs of Experience".

haha, it seems more than possible now you mention it! I thought it sounded a bit different to 'regular' Joshua Tree Bono but it sounds even more like present day Bono now!
