Babyface is an ok song , not one of the best from Zooropa.

But still miles better than Someday`s Are Better Than Others.
That song really is:madspit:

Cheers ,

No! SABTO is a fucking great track... that bassline is phenomenal.

That said, Babyface is a tune and a half, also. I think that Zooropa is a really great album, each song has its worth. Unlike Pop that could have been great if it werent for The Playboy Mansion.

Musically SDABTO is cool , but the lyrics are worse than Babyface.
Those two are the weakest tracks on Zooropa ( I think  ).

It's utter crap. If U2 of 00's released this today it would be demolished by the vocal minority on here.

 It isn't being destroyed already? I mean, it's usually put in the same class as Red Light and mocked. Rightly so, too. Babyface for the massive fail.

What the hell's so bad about it? It's a fun mindfuck pop song. Not the best on Zooropa, but not the worst either.

I can't stand the music, the lyrics, or the vocals. None are pleasing to my ear. That doesn't really leave much left to like.

Both are just    I'd give the edge to SDABTO.

Babyface is so ridiculous that it passes through a wormhole and becomes awesome  The cheesiness of it is what makes it great, and it is incredibly sexy.

I know of at least one person that's already posted in this thread that will appreciate this, but I've really gotta draw comparisons between Babyface and Madonna's video for Take a Bow (which ironically, has backing vocals contributed by Babyface, the singer  ) In the video, she plays a woman who is extremely obsessed with a bull fighter. She goes to all of his fights, and when she's not doing that, she's got the TV on with one of his fights, up in the bed with her, while she rolls around in front of it in her underwear. In the end, she finally gets to sleep with him, but he's basically just using her, and leaves her heartbroken.
There you have the obsession with celebrity, and while the person may seem all perfect from afar, be it through TV, or at some sort of public appearance, you don't really know them, and it could turn out that they're not the perfect person you thought they were.

You know, even if you're not going so far as trying to have sex with your TV (I hope none of us have gone that far, although it was damn hot when Madonna did it) we're all guilty of celebrity worship. The fact that we have arguments over the length of Bono's hair shows that. We're fans, we can't help it. We're so immersed in the music and magazines and the photos and the video (be it U2 or anyone else) that yes, we almost feel like we know these people. Sometimes I feel like I know too much.

And that's what this song is about. The guy in the song... I just realized this, but you could almost see him as the same guy in Fast Cars. "I got CCTV, pornography, CNBC, I got the nightly news to get to know the enemy" *thinks about it* He's a somewhat paranoid recluse, living his whole life through technology. With phones, TV, and internet, he never has to talk to "somebody in a body" again if he doesn't want to.
Whereas in Babyface, you've got the guy using video and TV and pornography to fall in love with a woman through his TV screen. "With the sound and colour under [his] control", she can be whatever he wants her to be, and is using this technology as a replacement for real relationships. I can't believe I never noticed the parallel before, wow

So yeah, anyway, this post is long enough. In conclusion, you should all go check out my goofy "Bono stalking" Babyface video:

I'd put it on YouTube but they won't let me :(

Who could that person be?  I've never noticed that before, but the comparison fits perfectly. You rock. I agree with your take on the rest of "Babyface" as well.

Fun fact: Justin Timberlake said he based the concept of the "SexyBack" video off the "Take A Bow" video. I can see that.
