Released Burmese Opposition Leader Suu Kyi Interviewed on Current
Situation

(Interview by correspondent Ko Moe Aye with NLD General Secretary Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi; date and place not given, broadcast by Burmese
opposition radio on 13 June)

<snip>

Ko Moe Aye: Among the international community that supported you and
the NLD, you must have heard about the song written and sung in your
honour by the world famous U2 band. What message do you want to send to
U2?

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi: I am very thankful to U2 for the consideration
they have shown towards the Burmese people. I also admire them because
I have learned that they are also engaging in many other humanitarian
activities. Artistes like them are not only a credit to the arts but to
mankind as well. I respect and thank them very much.

That's cool! I was wondering if she even knew about them. I know she's been on house arrest so long I thought they might not let her have any rock and roll. U2 was banned in her country because of Walk On and their support for her.

I just read this too!...That is so awesome that she knows of them and of course, admires their humanitarian efforts.. :D

I would love to see them meet face to face someday soon.. Now that would one very special moment!

Peace!

Thanks for posting that elevatedmole.
SuuKyi was under arrest when she and U2 were both granted the Freedom of Dublin( Ithink that is the award she was receiving)
She was unable to attend, but I think it was her son was beside U2 on the stage. I hope they are all united now.
