I don't play instruments, but I write lyrics and sing, and Bono and Edge's lyrics inspire mine often.

UGH YES!! Everything I write ends up sounding like U2. Stupid influencial bastards!

Everytime I pick up the guitar to see if I can come up with something, I end up playing A and D chords with some delay thrown in for good measure! I can't not do so!

Sadly yes, and I mean sadly. I want to hone my own sound, but there is something so damn attractive about the "edge" sound, that I keep coming back to it. I'm trying to find a happy medium between carving out a new sound, and using that god damn delay pedal lol!

I think the lesson that I have learned from U2 is that less is often more. I have no desire to rip a solo off that touches every note on the fret board. I've learned how to craft simplistic songs that convey a lot more with a lot less notes.

That being said, I think I write very un-U2 songs, but as U2 fans, I'm sure you guys would say different
