i asked this on other message boards, and i will here now. what if u2's catolog had been released? like HTTDDAB was thier first album and they just released boy in 2004? thiers two ways we can look at it. one, if just switch the albums, or two, we space them the oppisite way going back. for your mind bending pleasure... (we're not counting the best ofs or live albums)

version 1
1980 HTDDAB
1981 ATYCLB
1983 POP
1984 PASSNEGERS
1987 ZOO
1988 AB
1991 RAH
1993 JT 1995 TUF 1997 WAR
2000 OCT
2004 BOY

version 2
1980 HTDDAB
1984 ATYCLB
1987 POP
1989 PASSENGERS
1991 ZOO
1993 AB
1996 RAH
1997 JT
2000 UF
2001 WAR
2003 OCT
2004 BOY

my thoughts,. well i see in ver #1 that passnagers is now where they first hooked with eno. (TUF). so thats makes sense the second time around. i feel if boy was released now critics would say thier hoping on the vines/strokes etc bandwagon in some weird way. ver #2 has AB in 1993, witch means it could have neen big going the other way. looking at this written out is just freakly.

I think if this had been the case, and U2 released Rattle and Hum after Achtung Baby, I would have been so horrified I would have stopped listening to the band.

people would think Bono had discovered the fountain of youth because his voice got so much fucking better.

Though they'd complain that he had forgotten how to sing properly.

pop in the 80's might have been just that, more POPular then it was in 97. proly more depiche mode-ish.

boy in 2004 would have sounded like the strokes, thiers no doupt. dismantle in 1980 would having sounded like a mix of talking heads and joy divison.
