To quote Sideshow Mel from the Simpsons "I've been living on Mars...in a cave...with my fingers in my ears" and have never, ever heard U2 (no fainting, this is hypothetical). Anyway, YOU get to initiate me to this wonderful new band, so choose 6 songs 2 early years, 2 mid-years, and 2 recent- to best represent them and make an instant fan out of me.

My choices:

Early Years: Electric Co. Tomorrow

Mid-Years: New Year's Day; One Tree Hill

Recent: Beautiful Day; Kite

Who could possibly resist them?

early years: out of control + October
mid years: where the streets have no name + until the end of the world
recent: please + walk on

Early years: 11 O'clock Tick Tock and Gloria.

Mid years: New Year's Day and Heartland.

Recent Years: Gone (Best Of 1990-2000 New Mix) and Walk On.

Early years: Out Of Control and Gloria

Mid-years: ISHFWILF and UTEOTW

Recent years: Beautiful Day and Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix)

Hey, nice topic! It's a little tough, but here goes nothing...

Beginning: Out of Control; New Year's Day

Middle: Where the Streets Have No Name; One

Recent: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me; Beautiful Day

 Yep, I don't think anyone can resist these songs

I made this 10 track CD for my friends who just think of U2 as Beautiful Day, and to show them they are not just that kind of music. It had:

1 - Zooropa
2 - Mofo
3 - The Lounge Fly Mix
4 - Numb
5 - Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk :D:D:D
6 - Lemon
7 - Wake Up Dead Man
8 - Zoo Station
9 - Dirty Day
10 - The Playboy Mansion

I called the cd 'U2: De-Elevation'.

I'd question the placement of The Playboy Mansion on that CD ... I find it a terribly boring song, to be perfectly honest.

out of control and new year's day
pride and where the streets have no name
mysterious ways and beautiful day

It wasn't meant to be a best-of cd, it was meant to show the other side of U2 (the non-Beautiful Day one).

Yeah, I understand that ... I just probably would've selected something else myself. But each to their own.

out of control and tomorrow
a sort of homecoming and i still haven't found what i'm looking for
mofo and kite
(but i would argue to add one and stay)
