does anyone else think this is a feckin' fantastic song?
the lyrics are tremendous, except for one small thing that has bugged me since the first time i heard it-in the closing verse bono sings 'go find yourself in someone else/and always wear a safety belt/wait for me i'm runnin' late/this is the moment that we shared'.
'always wear a safety belt'?
is that a joke? i thought that was the funniest and most out-of-place thing i had ever heard when i first this song.

Always is fucking awesome, I just love that song. Befoe I bought the album, I thought it was on it (new u2 fan) and think it deserved a spot! Why not put it after grace, end the album with a bang? This woulda done great as a single, even though the chorus has a slim resemblance to BD. Who cares!

me, too, baker, I thought both Always AND Summer Rain should have appeared on the album and a couple of the weaker songs could of been left off. Won't name them here, somebody might have a fit.

Their initials are W.H. and G. though.

In the Beautiful Day EZE video, that one shot in Nice, we can see the words BEAUTIFUL DAY (ALWAYS) handwritten this way, in the same line with capital letters, right on the first seconds of the video. What is that supposed to mean? That Always is a previous version of BD? I read some commnents, I bet you read about it as well. I don?t know, but there are some resemblances, no doubt.
Anyway, Always is a great, great song, I love the lyrics, and everything on this song. I tend to listen to Always when I need some comfort...my fave verses

I don't know how you can't notice it, it's sooo obvious. Anyways!

In Beautiful Day, Edge sings 'always' as backing vocals.

Great song though, but I prefer BD.

I exactly agree with you, it's an excellent song with great lyrics but that safety belt thing doesn't work for me. My favourite lines are "Be the arrow and the target, put your head over the parapet." Maybe because it makes me think of the U2 boys in some kind of medieval setting? I really like the Middle Ages.

Yeah manda I think 'Always' could have worked on the album... also Summer Rain gives me the same feeling as Wild Honey does. Who would sacrifice Wild Honey for Summer Rain on the album? I may, but I adore the album how it is

Anyways if Radiohead could get away with two "Creep" versions on one album then surely U2 could have pulled this one off (yeah it was hidden but it was still there)

Like if you listen carefully to the first 30 secs or so in either the WGRYWH3 or 4 you'll hear in the background the opening to Always. Either that or I'm going crazy.

Another useless fact in one of those alternative edits of the BD video on u2.com (I think it was the France one or something, it's the one that never got aired not the alternative cut to the BD video) anyways it shows them in the studio and behind them is the marker board it says "Beautiful Day/Always" For all I know it could be alternative titles or it could be them trying to decide which one was going on the track.

I agree, when I first listened to the b-sides I thought Summer Rain sounded a bit like Rattle and Hum and Always sounded a bit like Achtung (besides the obvious BD resemblance.)
