Andrew is in agreement.

mmmmm :eyebrow:

here's my list: I dissagree with our friend bono man 2002, this DVD shouldn't contain any annoying filler stuff as interviews, backstage, video promos, etc  :shame: :yuck:

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of that kind of DVD's that say they contains for example "over 150 minutes of rare stuff, unreleased footage, hidden performances and interviews by the band"... the actual DVD is less than 90 minutes of performances and over 60 minutes of pure shit

I just want unreleased footage, no interviews, no studio sessions, no video promos, etc.

Here's my list in timeline:

1- Belfast 23-01-1981
2- San Francisco 18-05-1981
3- Hattem 14-05-1982
4- Werchter 04-07-1982
5- Devore 30-05-1983
6- Loreley 20-08-1983
7- Dortmund 21-11-1984
8- Los angeles 06-06-1986
9- Denver 08-11-1987
10-Los angeles 18-11-1987
11-Dublin 31-12-1989
12-Rotterdam 10-01-1990
13-Stockholm 11-06-1992
14-Anaheim 14-11-1992
15-Wembley 11-08-1993
16-Dublin 28-08-1993
17-Rotterdam 18-07-1997
18-Santiago 11-02-1998

:p

I've a better idea!
Well there could be a U2 magazine containing a full concert every
week...and in the end we'd end up with every show! :)...thats been filmed.

They were formed in 1976, no? So actually, it'd be a 29 year anniversary DVD. Wait for 2006 and we'll have a Vertigo show with it.

That´s not a good idea at all, I mean, they´ll release a Vertigo Tour DVD anyway, although we do not wish it. :shame:

If that DVD boxset include footage from Elevation and Vertigo Tour ( 2 DVD´s released from Elevation Tour and probably 1-2 from Vertigo Tour ) they´ll just keeping less and less space for that historical unseen and unrelased footage from 1981 to 1998

    :D

That´s an excelent point  If U2 release a DVD boxset filled with pointless filler stuff as interviews, backstage, video promos, studio sessions, etc... they would make just another Rattle & Hum movie  :tsk: :coocoo: :censored:.
I just want a clean DVD boxset with just awesome live performances previously unreleased   That´s so much interesting than the used boring filler stuff for the running time.

They have tons of awesome unreleased concerts, so it would be a shame if they decide to edit out sublime minutes of unseen performances for putting crappy interviews and all that  If they want it, they could make a mind blowing 10 hours document on 4 DVD´s with just unreleased performances  ( Great idea !, 2 DVD´s for the 80´s and the other 2 ones for the 90´s )

Peace

Disc 1 - Red Rocks and The Fire (including Live At Red Rocks with never before seen concert footage, interviews, behind-the-scenes, various concert clips from 'The Unforgettable Fire' shows)

Disc 3 - ZOO TV in Sydney (including edited together Interference footage, over two hours of interviews from the ZOO TV days, behind the scenes of the 1st show in Lakeland, all ZOO related media, including clips of “Zooropa” and “Babyface” from the Zooropa shows)

Disc 4 – Popmart in Mexico (including the ABC Pop Special, behind the scenes making of the album, the K-Mart press conference, interviews, new documentary ‘Making Passengers’, new documentary “Inside The Lemon”, selected songs from various Popmart Shows)

As well as this boxed set, The Best of 1980 - 1990 will be released in DVD format.

I'd just like to see PopMart Mexico and ZooTV Sydney see the light of day on DVD, I keep steadfastly refusing to buy either on video because of the inferior (personal choice, it's the most important thing to me) sound quality.

You guys who are after unreleased live shows, you have to remember that very few of them will have been shot with enough professional equipment to be available to release.

They were formed in 1976 and their first single came out in September 1979, but the 25th anniversary is the celebration of their relationship with Island records, which began on 23 May 1980 with the release of 11 O'clock Tick Tock. So yes, it is 25 years.

And that single in May 1980 was their first international release, correct? If so, it makes sense that the band that calls themselves the "biggest band in the WORLD" would celebrate their worldwide anniversary rather than their first practice at Mount Temple or their Irish debut...

If that's not right, well... oops.

I understand your point of view, but don´t forget for many other fans the most important thing is the performance ( including me )   . As for me, that´s the reason why mostly I like or dislike some show ( ok, I do dislike a really crappy audience sound with chattering and all that  ) but all those shows listed on this topic were filmed with professional equipment, many of them by MTV, BBC or TV from several countries, especially the old ones like Belfast, Hattem, Loreley, Dortmund, Amnesty International Tour, Dublin, etc all those shows were filmed by TV  not by a Paul Mcguinness 8 mm camera

So it´s quite easy to get the master tapes and do the remastering job  If Led Zeppelin did it with performances even from 1969 in Black and White, why not U2 ? ;)

One more thing: let´s suppose tomorrow there´s fantastic OFFICIAL brand news: "U2 DVD BOXSET 1981-1998 IN MAY ( June, July whatever )" ... Info "Over 10 hours of just previously unreleased performances from the early Boy Tour until the last Pop Mart Tour Leg, newly remastered using the brand new sources available, making this the ultimate U2 live collection"...

Your reactions?... Do I have to write the words you´d use ... Don´t forget the same thing happened with Led Zeppelin DVD, I mean, some fans didn´t like the idea of releasing unreleased performances, because of sound and image quality...but now all fans ( including those ones who prefered remastered versions of VHS ) are happy with the DVD´s and think it was a f**king awesome idea, blowing away The Song Remains The Same DVD.

And don´t forget U2 all the time had at least 10 performances filmed with their best equipment to choose from as official Tour Video, I mean, 10 performances for Zoo TV Tour, 10 performances for Pop Mart Tour, etc. Do you think they filmed only Mexico City 1997 intended for official video ?. They filmed the whole 4th leg !!. Same thing with third leg Joshua Tree, etc, etc

ALL WE ARE SAYING IS GIVE THIS A CHANCE

Yes, that's the case. The releases beforehand were Irish-only singles on the CBS label. In fact, I think all their Irish singles, even after signing with Island, were released on CBS in Ireland and Island everywhere else. That's the case up until 1985's UF single, and from then on, I can't find any record of Irish singles on U2Wanderer.org.

I accept that you are, indeed, correct on all acounts there. My gods, the Led Zeppelin DVD is awesome.

However, you partially misunderstand me: I was just saying that I am refusing to buy the VHS tapes of the 1993 and 1997 performances because the sound quality of VHS is nothing compared to DVD, especially on a reasonable sound-system. I understand that many older performances are available due to television crews, the number of 'ProShot' DVDs on eBay pays testiment to the fact, I was merely acknowledging the superior performance of DVD sound.

*scurries off to put 'Since I've Been Loving You' from Madison Square Garden on*

Already own the VHS live shows.............I'd rather have a Best Of 1980-1990 with extra vids (Two Hearts, A Celebration, Fire, Street Missions, In God's Country, etc...)
