More than 4,000 U2 fans in 78 countries around the world took part in the 2007 U2 Fan Survey, which @U2 hosted for the third consecutive year. We asked a number of new questions, removed some old ones, and are now (finally) finished counting the answers. Here are the pertinent links:

Note: Because of scheduling issues, the 2008 Survey will be delayed a couple months. In fact, there won't be a 2008 survey. Instead, we'll do the next survey in February, 2009, which should allow for a quicker turnaround on posting the survey results.

I always find it interesting how well ATYCLB and HTDAAB do on these surveys...it's almost like the interference opinion is in the minority...

I think it just means 1,588 people don't own any of the other instrumentals. Or 1,588 people are really stupid, either way.

Frankly, all this survey proved to me is that U2 fans are very, very predictable.

of course that doesn't mean I won't take the next one in 2009. It's fun.

What was cool to see was how few members there were of Propaganda. Part of me wishes that "official U2 fandom" had remained a little more underground. It sure would have made it easier to secure tickets!

I cannot figure out how Treasure got the least votes of anything there. What the hell are U2 fans listening to? That's one of U2's best b-sides - hell, I'll call it as one of U2's best songs full stop. Ah well, at least I was one of the 20 who did vote for it.

That one was a little tough for me because I really like a lot of those. But Saints? Not even close. That is a wtf.

I think that was just recentism, with Saints being so new compared to all the others. Hell, it's probably still on the radio in some places. I doubt that result will be replicated the next time around.

First, sign up for the atu2 Yahoo group and you'll never miss another survey again. Don't worry. It's not a chatting group. Chatting is not allowed. It's only a way for them to send U2 news to your email. It's great!

Also I thought the big shocker of the whole survey was that Windows got a win. It's a good song and all, but compared to the others in the list, I don't think it could stand up on it's own.

Again, it might have been that it was fresh in everyone's mind like Saints.

Bono: Guitar, harmonica and in the last few years, piano lessons. (and that doesn't include his actual instrument in U2)

Adam has yet to play anything outside of bass.

edit: also I don't think Adam's bass playing > Bono's singing.
