What are your top ten favorite/best movies of 06? Yes there is still time, but so far and leaving some room if you wish. And some picks for your favorite/best performances. I saw so many movies this year that it's all a blur..and too many crappy ones. Maybe we should list the 10 worst too..

Some of mine in no particular order would be

The Departed

Little Miss Sunshine

The Prestige

United 93

The Queen

Babel

Casino Royale

1. Borat
2. United 93
3. The Departed
4. Crank
5. Miami Vice
6. Casino Royal
7. Apocolypto
8. The Hills Have Eyes
9. Talledega Nights
10. The Prestige

I still need to see For Your Consideration, The Departed, Borat and Little Miss Sunshine, but here's my list:

1. V for Vendetta
2. The Prestige
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
4. The Illusionist
5. Casino Royale
6. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
7. Nacho Libre
8. Stranger Than Fiction
9. Snakes a on Muthafuckin' Plane
10. The Fountain

Worst Movie of the Year: Date Movie
Biggest Disappointment: The Da Vinci Code

Overall, I've loved this year and actually got to see many of movies first in the theater.

Well, I've still got several that are out already that I haven't made it to yet, and there are a bunch coming out in the next couple weeks, so I'd expect this to change, but for now (in alphabetical order)

-Babel
-Casino Royale
-The Departed
-The Illusionist
-Little Miss Sunshine
-The Prestige
-The Queen
-The Science of Sleep
-Thank You For Smoking
-Volver

On the cusp (movies that didn't meet my expectations, but were still decent enough: Flushed Away, For Your Consideration, Last King of Scotland, Little Children, V for Vendetta)

Biggest Disappointment: Borat (did not think it lived up to the hype AT ALL...sure the character is funny in 10 minute increments on Da Ali G show, but I found that a little goes a long way.)

Worst...well, this probably isn't the "worst," as I didn't dole out the cash to see junk like Date Movie, but Happy Feet has the honor of being the first movie I've ever walked out on. Can somebody PLEASE tell Nicole Kidman to stop with the whispery-acting? It makes me want to scratch my eyes out! Hugh Jackman's bizarre Jimmy Stuart meets Catherine Hepburn voiceover wasn't much better...Tack on the uber-schmaltziness of those little fuzzy-wuzzies getting all giddy about finding their "heartsong," and that was just about enough for me. Blech!

1) Pirates Of The Caribbean- Dead Man's Chest
2) Talladega Nights
3) Over The Hedge
4) United 93
5) Stranger Than Fiction
6) Borat

The top 3 are VERY close

Out of all the movies I saw, these were probably my favorites (in no particular order):

The Prestige
Superman Returns
Casino Royale
Little Miss Sunshine
Wordplay
Strangers With Candy

I think United 93, Capote, and The History Boys are the only ones I've really liked this year. Syriana , Goodnight and Good Luck, and Little Miss Sunshine were okay, but I didn't like Borat or Babel at all.

Have I seen ten new movies? :hmm:

Loved....

Lady in the Water
United 93
V for Vendetta
The Prestige

Hated Happy Feet :yuck:

On my Must-See list: The Departed, Stranger Than Fiction, Apocolypto, Babel

FYC was a major disappointment, but still worth seeing.

The other three are definitely in my top 5.

1. The Departed (Best film of the year for me)

2. Casino Royale (Bond is back, baby!)

3. The Prestige

4. Borat

5. mmmm, yeah, I think that's it.

I haven't seen too many movies this year, but here are my favorites:

Pirates of the Carribbean - Dead Man's Chest
V for Vendetta
The Queen
The Devil Wears Prada

Disappointment: Marie Antoinette

Wants to see: Babel, Borat, and Apocalypto

I'm just going to make it a top five.

1. V For Vendetta
2. The Departed
3. Little Miss Sunshine
4. Borat
5. Casino Royale

I can't think much beyond that. Shows how much I got to the theater this year. I think it was a weak year, but those five moives were all fantastic. I'd say the first three are all on the same level for me.

I haven't been to movies all that much this year and a lot of movies that I want to see are not released in Australia yet. But so far I've enjoyed:

1. The Departed
2. Casino Royale
3. Cache (Hidden) - a *very* frustrating film but it did leave an impression
4. Borat
5. Devil Wears Prada

honestly not sure if I saw more than 10 movies this year...

Borat
Strangers with Candy
Little Miss Sunshine
Casino Royale
Stranger than Fiction
Devil Wears Prada

were all

Superman, Snakes on a Plane, and Wordplay were cool too

i'm sure i saw more movies than that but those were the ones that stuck out in my mind

Casino Royale
Bond is back and he's not Pierce - woohoo!

The Departed
Swearing! And blood!

The Prestige
For David Bowie I would be gay. Even old David Bowie.

V for Vendetta
It's The Matrix: Non-Sucky Historical Edition.

Did you notice he didn't wear contacts in the movie?

2-colored eyes!

No votes for Blood Diamond?! It blew me away and Leo was topnotch.

Ja, I heard it was pretty amazing. I'd like to go see it tomorrow. I'll post my thoughts when I do.

V for Vendetta

Tenacious D - Pick of Destiny (actually very funny. Gets a +5 Humour Factor if you like stoner movies, cause this is definitely one of them. Also, +9 if you FUCKING ROCK!)

Borat

Superman

I think that's all I saw. Superman was kinda "meh", but not bad.

-- Babel
-- Children of Men
-- The Science of Sleep
-- Pan's Labyrinth
(I love my country, lol)
-- Lady in the Water (underrated as hell)

I saw Blood Diamond but somehow I didn't feel I could put it on my top six or whatever I had. The acting was superb and it obviously has an important lesson. Maybe it should be there, I don't know. I think Leo will only get one Oscar nod for The Departed, and Djimon Hounsou will get a supporting-if he doesn't I think that's a complete farce.

I wanted to see Pursuit Of Happyness this weekend but I couldn't make it, I never saw Little Children but I was dying to see that one. Also Dreamgirls is out on Christmas Day.
